Who is this aimed at? She always tries to make it edgy and sort of rebellious YSL masculine with a lot of black and hard leather accessories and details. But it always feels over-done on the design of the small details and the overall look tends to be forgotten, therefore often incohesive.
Because of the over-embellishment, instead of it feeling masculine edgy, it has more of a drag-queen vibe to it that I find with a lot of her clothes.. I mean, look at that nude piece with the drop-waist, the frills the pleats and stars.. and then the white dress with the attached semi-transparent blouse with peter pan collar and frills and further invisible embellishments.
And then there are those two black coats, one with a low, curving v-neckline, the other literally the shape of a triangle, both finished with enormous buttons and edged in pleated frills. It's too chunk to be feminine and too feminine to be masculine, it makes me feel ill.
This collection seems all over the place ... at the end I had a very 30's silhouette feel but then after revising it .. its like a hodge-podge of everything .... and yes, CD I agree that she should have edited much more carefully.

i agree that this is all over the place...
there are hints of the aesthetic that i associate with temperley but there is something that seems incomplete...
or maybe it's just the lack of cohesion that's getting to me?
it looks like she started a few different collections and then just kind of threw everything together

Hmmm... I think the general aesthetic of what she does always has a very English countryside sort of vibe, and I feel like this collection is perhaps an extension of that (30's English countryside girl takes London, perhaps?). Alice will always be the English Monique Lhuillier/Vera Wang to me, though; an exceptional bridal designer that does average ready to wear. Problem is, I think she fashions herself as more of a ready to wear designer that does bridal...
