Why does he only watch straight movies? He confuses me, I wish his work was more homoerotic.
i'm not sure that's possible. at gucci, he had blatantly homoerotic ads and runway shows (who will ever forget his show with the man on the stripper pole), at ysl, he played with the same and presented full-frontal male nudity in advertising, and with his namesake brand, he shot ads with a fully nude jon kartajena and has not shied away from projects that showcase homoeroticism at all (the film, the interviews, the editorials, the look books etc).

and i agree, there's something inherently homoerotic about "straight porn." i mean, it's still men at the end of the day.

from vogue.it:

Tom Ford per H&M?
Rumors hint at a partnership between the designer/photographer/director and the Swedish fast-fashion colossal

For many of his fans, it would be a dream come true, but for now, it's just an unconfirmed rumor: voices are buzzing about Tom Ford as a potential big name to design a collection for H&M, following in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld and Alber Elbaz, Sonia Rykiel and Comme des Garçons.

After successful collections created for Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, after his excellent film debut with A Single Man, which was awarded at the Venice Film Festival in 2009, Ford appears open to the idea of creating a collection that mixes luxury and mass market. While the news is not yet confirmed, Ford has recently captured the media attention by presenting his new womenswear collection exclusively shot by Steven Meisel for Vogue America, in the very hush-hush, selective, perfectionist way he is known for.

Ford, in fact, told Vogue USA that his next collections would be presented just to a limited group of international fashion editors. A collaboration with H&M would be a completely different approach for Ford. It must be said, however, that the Swedish brand is one of the most important influences in fast fashion today and could give the eclectic, adventurous Ford a new, stimulating challenge.

My respect for him has dropped a little after hearing how much he likes Terry Richardson.

Gross.

I really don't know how I'd feel about him doing a collection for H&M. The good thing is that the menswear should be perfect, but other than that...

I'd hate it if that rumor turns out to be true, but only because I know I'd wind up disappointed when they sell out in 45 minutes flat. It would just depress me.

I'd be curious to see how he'd adapt his aesthetic to H&M though.

I really don't see why an H&M collaboration would be a interesting challenge or whatever for Tom to do. As we saw from Lanvin, how much work does it take to knock off your aesthetic at a lower price point, hype it up for a few months, and then sell out opening day? It might be fun, but a week later and who really cares about the collaboration anymore? Something more lasting, like +J maybe, is a lot more interesting of a proposition.

The rumor goes against his entire aesthetic... and after seeing the blog that "broke the story" I think it has no credibility.

Ahhhh, you are so right how could I have forgotten about all that! Specially that YSL ad. But what I was talking is that his work is not as homoerotic as I wish it were, I want it on my face! Two male models making out naked on the beach wearing nothing but his sunglasses, that kind of homoerotic!

Do you know where I can find pictures or videos of that man on the stripper pole?

Let's try and keep this topic focused on his work post-Gucci. For anyone who wants to discuss his work at Gucci and YSL we have a thread for him in History of Design.

In what I like to call... blogger laziness, here is the article in harper's bazaar UK. Mind you I was not too lazy to read it in it's entirety.
