^ I understand your point, but our expectations of Valentino have always been the same year after year and now we're just seeing some things we're not used to.

Not typical for Valentino, but I like it. It's clean and modern.

Well, it's understandable to have a certain expectation, but it's only natural that with a new designer, those expectations won't be met.

Plus, Valentino was always the same, really. Don't get me wrong, I loved him, but he rarely did anything new, but that was OK because he was so good at what he did it didn't matter that we saw the same thing from him, season in and season out. So, to be honest, I'm excited to see what Facchinetti does with the house...where she takes it, how she makes it new, how she uses the Valentino archives. I'm sure she'll do well.

I agree with you Dior Couture...
I believe Alessandra Facchinetti will do a good job.
It's different from what Valentino does.
But change is sometimes good.
I like the first look.
Though it is certainly no Valentino.
But I am basing my opinion off two looks.
I would have to see the whole collection.

But I agree with Becca Rich she will do a good job, but it will be different, I personaly might not like it, but that doesn't mean I won't appreciate it. It's just i liked what Valentino is about and did, but even if in the future is different at the end the efford and creativity is important and I believe Alessandra will give all she has.

The grey coat is very lush ...
I hope she continues to use this muted colour palette for Fall. The only problem I have with the skirt on the right is that it really should have been narrower below the waist to exaggerate the billowy effect she's done at the lower part of it.

And to those that say that this isn't Valentino...it certainly isn't!!. It's Alessandra Facchinetti for Valentino ...and judging by these two looks she isn't doing a bad job at her new post at all. I think that tackling the couture line will be a major task for her.

The colors and details remind me of certain Alberta Ferretti collections. I'm surprised, but I really enjoy the two outfits we've seen so far. Very promising, especially for a new designer.

I never ever considered Valentino because it was always over-embellished socialite frou-frou stuff stuck somewhere in the past few decades worn by women just as old but this is different, elegant, intelligent, feminine and QUIET, in a pleasing Rochas way. I'm still unsure, but love the sleeves of the grey coat and the crisp shape of the dress. I certainly much prefer this direction - there's always Chanel, Tuleh, Andrew Gn, Oscar de la Renta for that frothy feathers, chiffon and lace stuff, and Rochas is seriously missed.

Fashion is about change, and this change is good.

So far, looking at the first two ensembles.. they seem a bit too structured and stiff.

i think its waaaay to early to make any strong judgements about this considering we've seen 2 images.

I dont like fachinettis previous work but I'm interested in seeing how she envisions the future of the house..

Quiet is exactly what it is...it's quiet but it's not dull, it still has an element of sophistication and a hint of glamor, but it's all very subtle.

and I agree...I REALLY miss Rochas. I don't like Olivier's SS 08 Nina Ricci collection (I did, however, love his FW 07 collection)! I want him back at Rochas!
