I love, love, love that grey coat. Also, the fact that she's avoiding red for the time being is good. It's nice to see a designer who's channeling the house in a less obvious way.

^^It's kind of a dusty rose pink (kind of a combination of pink, purple, brown and gray). Which is usually an awful color, so tacky...so Golden Girls is sick.

But here it looks very chic.

well I can't say I'm a fan of the two designs posted. The shape/form of the pieces don't really do it for me. The second one has potential, if you chop everything off below the knee...I like the rest of it just fine!

The grey coat is very promising but I'm not sure about the color of the second dress.
Since it's Alessandra Facchinetti who does the design now, changes and unexpected or even weird things will definitely come to us, and it takes time for all of us to adapt that.
So, relax and take it easy guys! I think Valentino has his own thinking when he chose Alessandra Facchinetti to be his successor.
But I hope she could meet Valentino himself soon and have an intensive with each other. Maybe it will do a lot help for her.

this is so absurd! have you not really seen a valentino clothing that hides a woman's figure?

http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums...1&postcount=99

if you were seeing this image on top of the interview you'd probably be screaming "GO AWAY ALESSANDRA! THIS IS NOT DOLCE&GABBANA!

i find the first coat to be VERY beautiful, and the gown to look a bit Zac Posen as some have mentioned (which is not that good). In any case, "very" is a word that i normally use with Boring when it came to valentino.
As she very well mentioned, Valentino's been doing it for 40 years... and she's been there less than 4 months!

(very very very strange they haven't met in all this time!! i thought he was kinda helping/supervising her)

I like what I've seen so far..I like it a lot!!
The coat in particular is brilliant.
I don't understand why everyone expects to see copies of the previous designer's work everytime a new designer steps in.I know we're taking about THE Valentino here but these two designs for prefall are better than a lot of his imo

FYI, I really like these first two photos. The first coat is so weirdly shaped, love the silhouette. The model looks FIERCE, work.

Fachinetti was approached by the company not the other way round and for good reason: her work for Moncler was exceptionally crafted and rich in a very Valentino way.
Her approach is very womanly in the intricacy and detail (something male designers often have trouble with) and her sense of colour is not dull as some people say but refined and discreet. Nuance of colour is very important to an Italian, and she has already proven her expertise in that area. Note: Versace for one has improved since cutting back on the 80's cartoon colours.
She would have been damned if she did and damned if she didn't so I'm not surprised at some of the vitriol mentioned here. What kind of designer would walk in and not bring something NEW to the existing situation. THAT IS WHY PEOPLE HIRE DESIGNERS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
The fact that Mr. Garavani hasn't spoken or met her has more to do with his own lemon puckered queeniness and overblown egocentricity than anything else. Something that can only happen in fashion.
