It doesn't look very Valentino to me either. Yes I know that it is only two pictures that have been posted...
The colour is dull and the sillouhettes are horrible and boxy, Valentino is a fashion house which caters beautiful, feminine clothes with sexy shapes for glamazons..I can't imagine seeing the old Valentino clientele wearing this... ....there's still hope right?..Last edited by notmanons : 05-12-2007 at 03:21 PM. |

Am I wrong in finding it extremely strange that she hasn't even met Valentino, and yet she is in full control of this new era under his name? I would think that he had taken her under his wing and given some sort of apprenticeship.
That first grey coat is promising... I actually love the scrunchy effect of the sleeves, although I'm wondering how that looks when the model's hands aren't shoved in her pockets. The second look is rather dowdy. Last edited by DuTTyRoCK112 : 05-12-2007 at 03:29 PM. |

The second picture doesn't impress me at all looks like something from Zac Posen. But the grey looks gorgeous love the scrunched up effect the fabric looks great too.
Dutty, I find it wierd too...she hasn't met Valentino? I would meet the person that is suceeding me.

It seems like an overreaction to judge a collection based on what has been posted so far. Besides, I think it doesn't have to look like the old Valentino since it's now Alessandra Facchinetti for Valentino. I'd be glad if she shows her own vision on the brand. |

omg wtf is this? The TRUE Valentino would be much more colourful and much more sexy. That second skirt is the most UN-Valentino thing Ive ever seen. I hate it. Bring the real Valentino back. Id rather see no label than this junk.

I kind of like it. I think it has certain elements that are signature Valentino, but done in a more subdued and more minimal way. This is Facchinetti, not Valentino. You can't expect any new designer at an established house to make carbon copies of the founding designers work....that would be pointless. The job of a new designer is to take the house's archives and incorporate it into their own aesthetic, not be slaves to the archives.
Plus, how can we judge her with two pictures? Let's wait until we see a few of her collections before we start making such final judgments! |
