It's a good honest Prefall collection.
It is still Valentino but it shows that Pierpaolo is interested in exploring a much more womanly side of Valentino. The red paillettes dress is the perfect example.
This is very embellished but it doesn't look "too much". I love the coats and the new bag.

The challenge for him will be to take Valentino to another level. The brand is what it is today with those A-Line dresses but he is pushing it and i like it.

The evolution will be slow but it's looking good already.

^ I totally agree with you. I think he is growing and trying to challenge himself little by little. Looking at the details, many pieces actually remind me of the old Valentino collections.

That red dress on Tami is going to fly to the award season.

First thing I thought was how exquisite that dress is! I hope to see Emma Stone take the Oscar in it, it'd look ravishing against her pale skin.

What I love about this collection is how you can instantly recognize the Valentino woman. You can imagine her going to work, running errands, playing with her kids. These are your elevated everyday clothes that aren't easy to find nowadays - very little in-your-face embroidery fit for princesses and more of a certain grounded luxury. Also I love the new bag.

This is only pre-fall but it needed to be more, it needed to be different, hopefully he changes it up for the couture collection. I will say Tami's dress is sublime.

I feel like he is trying to push himself but this isn't really memorable and seems kind of all over the place. The boots and accessories really drag it down for me as well.

^^
This is only a precollection. The main goal is above all to sell garnments rather than inspired anything special. It's nice after a rather focused first collection.

And to be honest, apart from Chanel, nobody is really making a statement with their prefall.

It's ok. I think Dior makes it seem better than it really is.
