Walking past his flagship store in NY, I would say- not dusty (especially the $250 socks...)

John Galliano collaboration for Zara Spring Summer 2012

Rumor has it that John Galliano is designing a capsule collection for Zara to be presented in the Spring Summer 2012 in the high street fashion brand's store all over the world. I know we have never given up on this genius designer so this is a come back to win the hearts of all the John Galliano fans, which will be able to finally have access to a piece from the creations of what has come to be the most controversial designer of the past 25 years.

UPDATE 31/12/2011: It has been almost 2 days that Italian blogs, Twitter and Facebook pages have been writing and twitting about this news. For now there hasn't been any confirmation from Zara, no news on WWD. After Tom Ford collaboration with H&M (turning out to be untrue) and so many guesses on who'll substitute John Galliano at Dior, it must not surprise you that this information comes to be just the last 2011 collaboration web-based rumour?

I think so too, I once heard rumors in Paris were they wanted to get rid of him but it was going to cost them way too much money (Sidney Toledano once said in an interview they´ve talked with Galliano´s lawyers many times before this), if you come to think about it, that video was taped in late Oct and got into the light in late February, LVMH is the world´s biggest and most powerful luxury conglomerate, if they wanted to protect him they could have easily done it.

The original incident which was discussed at length before the thread was closed. We will no longer accept opinions and comments regarding that incident. John doesn't have a flagship store in NYC...? Or are you talking about Lacroix on 57th, which I thought was closed?

I personally hope the Zara thing is true. I would wait in line for 30 years to buy one piece.

Regarding that Zara rumor, how are they planning to use his name if it´s own by LVMH now?

gotcha...I even read the posts ahead of it...didn't make the connection. Always thought (and think) its weird Galliano doesn't have a NYC shop. He would be well suited on Madison...

I actually think this Zara collaboration is a quite smart move. It's a great way to make a comeback in a large audience market, and it will help to get his name back on people's mouth (in a good way).

Really??? I was interested in that book but it was out of stock at amazon.ca. Isn't that one of Galliano's gowns on featured on the cover? I prefer Ferre at Dior, bit there's no denying Galliano's contributions to Dior, let alone fashion. No matter how LVMH despises him now, or how weak his collections were in the last few years, this man has already secured a place in 21st-century fashion, so to have him erased from the Dior archives seem way too extreme.

Anyway, it would be horrible if his return to fashion is via... Zara. That would completely diminish everything he had built, and is about. I'm sure it's only a rumor.

I see Galliano going the route of Alaia: Plugging away doing what he loves best without the commercial pressures of the LVMH machine breathing down his neck. I hope he has backers and advisors who will support Galliano the designer.

Trust me, you don't design for a house like Christian Dior and walk away with no loyalties. We may be all feeling sorry for him, but the man is creative and he'll have something up his sleeve(s).
