well, the clothes are now on the racks. A little rundown from my visit to the London store. First of all, it's a pleasure to deal with the men's section SA@yohji,london.
The concept is wear whatever you want and it will work, like dressing yourself blindfolded. I think it's a concept that it's been hidden in all the yohji collection from the very beginning. You can drees yourself in yohji without looking in a mirror and you will look good, I have a 95% yohji wardrobe and I can prove it, his work doesn't need to be styled...his clothing works inwards, you can feel that the fit is right without the mirror test. I feel relief. So, in store you can find the pajamas (they are silk pajamas, the real thing), and all the crazy silk bloomers (they are more bloomers than shorts imo) with the knit pieces that makes them work in the cold winter, legwarmers, neckwarmers etc. The knits are handmade and BEAUTIFUL. awfully expensive though. You can't find luxury fabrics like in aw08-09, those silk tweeds were awesome. Just the regular wools he's been using for ages, maybe the quaility is a tad inferior this time. The quirk detail comes in form of fully reversible pieces this time, most of the blazers and pants are reversible and actually wearable both sides. Some crazy prints in the linings, lions, dragons typically yohji. It reminds me of yakuza tattoos, they are like a secret code hidden inside the clothing. my fav look ![]() vogue.co.uk Last edited by wire.artist : 10-08-2009 at 08:34 PM. |

it would be fun to wear the pajamas in the city...
![]() i wonder what yohji had in his mind ... design the clothes for the house/hang out or a sleepwalker, who is out in his sleepwear somewhere and has put his coat over to keep from freezing (do you freeze, when you are sleepwalking - i don't know). but the baguette gives a hint here... i like the runway show. it has such a variety.
