they are really comfy too...

my pleasure softgrey
they were in a back space of y's.
yes they are light and so soft. and also slouchy around the upper part so that they can be worn folded too.

oh I didn't recognize the jeans, silly me.
it's definitely cool and lovely!

im afraid a lot of this looks extreeeeeeeeeeeeeemmmlelly bad imho..

something about the unflattering baggy cut (there is good baggy and ugly baggy)

this is the latter im afraid

I am a yohji fan and I get his whole oversize thing but apart from a few nice pieces here and there this looks terrible....im not inspired. bleh
you're welcome new dawn fades
yes I see it does look bad in those pics.
but this is not something which looks best when it's on a hanger or on a mannequin.
it's another thing which needs some movement from flesh and blood, and then would be completed.
it's barely possible that words or pictures do it justice.
what yohji has been trying to design and materialize is some lyrical atmosphere.
it's about space between body and garment, which we call "ma" (though ma is usually applied to a certain form of japanese traditional poem or picture/drawing, etc).
it makes graceful movement.
it's yohji's drift.
that's why he uses black most. black is most absorbent of light and so it's easier to express the slightest movement of the garment.
the seemingly "ugly baggy cut" on the mannequin is the fruit of his toil with the material of the fabric factored in carefully.
you'd feel the right space, volume and balance if you try wearing it or you see it being worn on a right person and swaying and rippling.

oh-
i didn't realize that there was a whole store of Y's there...

i didn't think of folding them down..
but i guess you're right- the leather is def soft enough to do that...
and they seem to be lined with leather in the inside...
so it would look pretty good i guess...
might be nice to do just one big fold all the way to the foot...
almost folding them in half..

the versatility of yohji's clothes always excites me...
these are smart designs...very thoughtful and clever ideas....
and still sort of minimal in a way...nothing really 'elaborate'...
always clean lines...with sharp edges...
i think that is something i just realized when looking over this particular collection...

yohji's edges are usually 'sharp'...
i mean that in a figurative way buy also in a literal way...
sharp can mean 'crisp and clean lines'
sharp can mean dangerous
sharp can mean really cool
sharp can mean that it literally comes to a pointed shape

but i do think there is a sharpness there....
even when it isn't physically there...you still feel it in the underlying design...

*thank you for the compliment kind sir......
urban pirate...that's a good one!...
i like that...

Bravo! that's a beautiful way to say it.

I'm thinking about getting these cargo pants, I've noticed they are a kind of overall. Is there any online shop who carries them? Do you know the pricepoint? I'm going to Paris on january but last time I went to the flagship there wasn't much stuff. I've been searching through Y! japan, and I've only found the velcro hi tops.

wire.artist, it seems that they are called parachute pants. the ones in the pic are cotton 100, available in black, beige, etc. I think there are some fabric variations besides that cotton. the strings hanging on the back are detachable.
56700 yen with tax included
those pics are from the online shop, but strictly speaking, they have their store and are just introducing those pieces there.
anyway you can get them by way of this contact address below if they ship overseas.
good luck!

softgrey, I guess it might need some sharpness so that it doesn't get too atmospheric.
or you might have to walk a tightrope and be more decisive really when you cut that kind of stuff, and the determination might make part of the sharpness. I don't know though.
yes we have some y's stores here.
this is y's kobe.

Thanks runner! I'll email them, if they don't ship overseas I'll just use a proxy. I'm not sure about which colour should I take, the kaki of the pics looks cool (maybe too military)...black is always safe...navy..don't know.

I just received the YYpH pieces from the 80's I told you about, now they are being dry cleaned. I'll post pics in the YY thread as soon as I get them back.
It's weird to wear something that was created when I was 6 years old LOL. It seems that yohji's quality is the same as it was then in terms of fabric, construction, etc...

thanks for the pics of the Y's store runner...
i am sure i would lose my breath in that store...just as i do each and every time i enter the YY store here
...

hahah...
i keep coming back to this thread to revisit this collection....
it's funny..
some things that don't appeal to me right away often grow on me...
it's like what you say about fertilizer runner...
- maybe it's not so much fertilizer in this case...but seeds...
like the seeds get planted but they take some time to grow and develop...

:p
