Damnit I love them both. I saw Albert in concert this past year & it was fantastic. He's such a great performer.

Love the Shambles From what I've heard of the new record, it's amazing - I love it so much. So proud of them <3

Babyshambles recording brand new songs

Babyshambles are back in the studio recording brand new songs.

The tracks are set to be B-sides for forthcoming singles from their second album, 'Shotter's Nation', which will be released on October 1.

Writing on his MySpace blog, Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek revealed that the new song titles are entitled 'Jumping Bean', 'I Don't Know That Man', 'Fixing Up (To Go)', 'Fireman', 'Revelations', 'Maybeline' and 'Velvet Untitled'.

Meanwhile, a new video of Pete Doherty recording a brand new song, 'Darksome Sea', has appeared online. You can see the video now on the NME Office Blog.

Icon14 The album keeps getting good reviews :D

German musikexpress review, 6/6

Quote:
Second Babyshambles Album. Not ****-off acting, but rough and perfect Indie- Pop
No, Peter Doherty is not a healthy man, even if he doesn’t do many things anymore, which have made (and ruined) his reputation within the last years, even if his voice, compared to the first album, sounds nowadays more punctuated and not anymore like he had half a pound of milkpowder in his nose. He still suffers from the world, from himself, from love, but this suffering is, to quote poet Georg Eggers, foundation of every cultural work and art.
That means if you can convert it- and Doherty is a problematic case- stumpeling around doen’t count as converting. But you have to see all the things that remain, and after the first 4 songs with a foaming river of great riffs, wonderful melodies, anthusiastic swing and, well yes, the vitality of filling a drak room with with sunshine, every fear of breakdown is gone.
The opener “Carry on...” is almost a continuation of Down in Albion und give a clear sign: There’s jangle, noise and a catchy song with energy and power, which you have to contribute to the producer- while Mick Jones took the sisyphos work ( for which he can’t be praised enough). He documented the chaos as complete as possible and “reconducted” it to a work of art, Stephen Street focused on concentration and destillation and made it possible, not to create a historical Rock’N’Roll document, but a rough and perfect popalbum.
The single Delivery continues the method of quatations. The riff remind of The Kinks, but for the chilled, irresistable chorus even Ray Davis would have sold his brother.
You Talk (Tongue-in-cheek allusion to Blondies One way or the other), Doherty shows a rare balace act between rage and wit and proves his talent with breaks, throw ins, and beautiful bridges, and UnBilotitled ( a gang family story about the trio Doherty, Whitnall and Wolfamn) is a great shining popsong, that makes you want to throw yourself on the floor and scream. After the furious “Side of the Road” ( as a demo known for 4 years, but hardy recognizable). Crum begging is close to standart- rock, but its a hard and rocking song, and the next highlight comes with the untypical, weightless floating “Unstookietitled” (Inculding a **** Forever quote).
If you look for the “Shambles” , which could be found on ealier Singles, so that you thought “ok, we know how ****ed up you are, back to the music” you have to listen to French Dog Blues ( Intro riff: time is tight Clash Version) and Baddies Boogie. The chorus is put down for a while. They are charming anywas, and a nice contrast to the last episode of the Katy saga, the feathery jazzy There she goes. The anthem- like Deft Left hand, and the charming, lost in dreams ballade “The lost art of murder” (with a Guitarpresent of the scotish Flok legend Bert Jensch) finish the album, which keeps the high level the whole time and even eceedds it. No, this is not a rehab. workshop, no **** off acting of a poor insane man, but a great, classical, confident english popmusic of beauty and truth, rare to find these days. A record like life, for life. (And even if you don’t believe in Pete Doherty, give this record a try, you’ll see!)
