I am really blown away by this but his bootlist is so extensive that I will probably keep getting blown away forever. I am pretty new to boots -do you have any Polly? My favourite one is one another fan in the States posted me -the Prodigal Son at the Main Point bootleg. It has the Wings For Wheels version of Thunder Road (pretty different lyrics) and a glorious introduction to the E Street Shuffle, an astounding version of Dylan's 'I Want You' (better than Dylan if you ask me) and above all, THE THE Incident On 57th Street to end ALL Incident on 57th Streets. I never really thought too long about the album version of the song but whenever I am humming to myself ever, I always catch myself humming, 'Spanish Johnny drove in, from the underworld last night. With bruised arms and broken rhythm, in a beat up old Buick... and dressed just like dynamite..."
Sienna - I'm so glad you liked it! I was so excited when I found that video...just randomly searching things on youtube. I spend a lot of time looking at Bruce videos . I'm new to bootlegs as well and I don't have any of his! But now I have to get my hands on that one you were talking about!

oh, and I love 70s Bruce the best too. I love his hat collection.

I don't think Bruce and Bono are actually friends. Well I hope not. Cos Bono is a twat. I get the feeling Bruce thinks so too.
I actually think that they might be friends. There's quite a bit of footage together...and I think Bono did his intro to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Or maybe they are just "business friends"...I think Bono worships Bruce just like we all do

10/17/05 Philly tour (I think) Bono brings Bruce on stage for "People Get Ready"
EDIT: I posted it below - next post! Sorry!

I am slighty biased...but I think Bruce just completely outshines anyone he collaborates with...he overpowers Bono. He has such an amazing stage presence! And everything sounds better with Bruce singing it.

And Sienna - love those pictures you posted! I think he is the most attractive human ever!

Oh yeah - sorry I am flooding the thread.
Sienna - do you have the album Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Live 1975-85? There is a version of "Growing Up" that he does live and he is telling stories about growing up in the middle of it - talking about how his dad wanted him to be a lawyer and his motorcycle accident, etc...and it is just so cute. It makes me smile! He says, "well, mom and dad, tonight you're just going to have to settle for rock and roll". Have you heard that live version before?
I just love it...

He is sooooo attractive. When I was in NY once, there was a local magazine that had a poll of the sexiest guys over 50 and he was on the cover. Duh! I don't know what it is? He isn't Jude Law. I think it is the integrity that does it.

And I know what you mean by overpowers. At university we can share music on our itunes and somebody (but I haven't figured out who) has him duetting with Melissa Etheridge. She comes on first and sounds gorgeous but then he comes on and you realise what you had been missing -what she was missing. I think it is the maleness of his voice. It is so testosterone rich that it just gets me weak kneed. But loads of guys like him so I am not sure what the appeal is for them. Probably something similar. I think they admire his masculinity.

Well I think it is professional. At first I thought it was personal but on the BTX forum where they really know their Bruce stuff, I remember reading some stuff where it said Bruce didn't really think that much of Bono. I just don't think it is in Bruce's interests to be rude and to be honest rudeness avoided is probably best in any situation. I think Bruce recognises and is grateful for the fandom but how good a friend can you be with someone who worships you! (I worship him but have no wish to be his friend... just his sex buddy!! ) And plus Bono's introduction for Bruce is one of the best speeches I have ever read (I don't know if there is any footage of it) so Bono is a friend worth having!

And that Stand By Me is beautiful! Even though it is more Bono than Bruce, he is really on form.

I just love it...
"It's funny cos when I was growing up, there were two things that were unpopular in my house. One was me. The other one was my guitar"

"And my father used to sit in the kitchen and we had this grate where the heat was supposed to come through except it wasn't hooked up to any, any like heat duct, it was just open, straight down to the kitchen. And there was a gas stove right underneath me and when I used to start playing he used to turn on the gas jets and try to smoke me out of my room"

"He always used to refer to the guitar... it was never a Fender Guitar or a Gibson Guitar... it was always that GODDAMN guitar"

"What they didn't understand was... I wanted everything! So one of you guys wanted a lawyer and the other wanted an author. Well tonight both of you are gonna have to settle for rock and roll!!!!!!!!!!!!"

WOW those are great sienna, Just found this from NME.com. I wish i had been there,

Bruce Springsteen makes surprise appearance in New York
New Jersey rocker shows up at his own tribute show
06.Apr.07 2:51pm
Rock 'n' roll legend Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance at a tribute event held in his honour in New York last night (April 5).

Taking to the stage at Carnegie Hall, he performed three songs for the delighted crowd, two of which he performed acoustically.

Punk legend Patti Smith also appeared, performing her Springsteen-penned hit 'Because The Night' as well as actor Kevin Bacon, who sang a version of the Oscar-winning song 'Streets Of Philadelphia' with his band The Bacon Brothers.

A string of acts performed Springsteen covers throughout the evening, including Badly Drawn Boy, The Hold Steady and Steve Earle, all of whom played to benefit of the Music For Youth programme - an initiative supporting music education for underprivileged children in New York.

While on stage, the New Jersey rocker made light of the nostalgic nature of the show, saying "The good news is... I'm not dead yet."

The Boss also stopped to pay particular tribute to the wheelchair-bound blues/folk legend Odetta, who had earlier delivered what he described as "the best version of '57 Channels' I ever heard".

The full list of songs and performers ran:

Steve Earle - 'Nebraska'
The Bacon Brothers - 'Streets Of Philadelphia'
Elysian Fields - 'Streets Of Fire'
Josh Ritter - 'The River'
Patti Smith - 'Because The Night'
Marah - 'The Rising'
The Holmes Brothers & The Young People's Chorus Of NYC - 'My City Of Ruin'
Robin Holcomb - 'Brilliant Disguise'
Jersey Guys with Bobby Valli - 'Jersey Girl'
North Mississippi Allstars - 'Spirit In The Night'
Uri Caine - 'New York Serenade'
Juliana Hatfield - 'Cover Me'
Low Stars - 'One Step Up'
Badly Drawn Boy - 'Thunder Road'
Joseph Arthur - 'Born In The USA'
Pete Yorn - 'Dancing In The Dark'
Jesse Malin & Ronnie Spector - 'Hungry Heart'
M. Ward - 'I'm Going Down'
Odetta - '57 Channels'
The Hold Steady - 'Atlantic City'
Bruce Springsteen - 'This Promised Land', 'Rosalita'(acoustic),'Rosalita'(electric)
