i entered this forum for the first time and what do my eyes observe with excitement : a thread on fiona apple one, if not my favourite musician (since miss amos has decided to sell herself out)fiona always staid true to herself, not delivering album after album just for the sake of money or keeping herself in the focus of the public eye.her 3 albums are so immensly unique and great that she simply cannot dive too deeply into blue of our oblivion.i hope she´ll continue to do things the way she did in the past-with great honesty.i couldn´t name a favourite album out of the three.they´re quite different from each other and serve me at different times in my life and in different moods.tidal is certainly the most mellow.when the pawn instead has an overwhelming energy and drive.imo extraordinary machine is her most mature album so far.yet she has always had an incredible feeling for words, their underlying melodies and of course the pictures they evoke.sometimes she just seems to play with words and their meanings, also decomposing idioms(i once read in an interview that she cuts out interesting words she sees in newspapers, magaszines, keeps them in a box and later uses them in her songs)....right now i jusdt have to think of the line"if there was a better way and it would find me,i can´t help but the road just rolls out behind me.."sullen girl was my first favourite and meanwhile i´ve listened to it so often that it´s almost imprignated in my subconciousness.as for the released version of extraordinary machine versus the brion version.the brion version is more uneven yet more quirky and daring.all in all i love both versions, the only real complaint i have is that they kind of ruined red red red and oh sailor on the released version.the whole passion and drama is somewhat drained off.

as for her style,í´ve always liked her fashion choices.very laid back with an own twist.i loved the ensemble she wore on the streets in the video of not about love....
i have saved a lot of pics on my pc over the years and would like to post some of them yet the problem is that in most cases i cannot name the sources anymore:some have watermarks,so it´s clear where they came from, others could possibly stem from neverisapromise.com,becuase i used tio be a member there and there was also a thread on fiona at atforumz.com and kittyradio/soapbox (the courtneylove-site)where members exchanged pictures of her.i hope that´s sufficient as far as crediting goes ....

^somnambule! so happy to see you here too, you're so eloquent and one of my favorite TFSers ever, always posting wonderful things, in material and in words! i absolutely agree with everything you say about fiona, she is such a beautiful, honest and unique soul a few of the pictures you posted above i hadn't seen before, so thank you! (i have the same case, as with some antique images as well, that i can't post them because i have no way of tracking the source ) oh well... (haha, another fiona song title! i think we could insert fiona phrases everywhere in life...yesterday i was remembering that the lines - "he said it's all in your head and i said so's everythinhg but he didn't get it" - could be applied so many times! ) anyway, i have to get back to work (damn occupations interfering with the interesting things in life!) XO!

ednafrau "better that i break the window than forget what i had to say".....ok window broken, yet my mind is still coloured rosered...thanks..i had a secret eye on you too and what i noticed is that that our tfs-ways don´t cross each other often enough.so whose fault is that ??!!i´m glad this thread found me- or was it vice versa? however....i agree,we could try to talk in fiona-ish.she has written so many memorable lines and so efficiently described different states of minds and moods and experiences....i´m gonna do another detour now-fiona sightings:

dancing the rigadoon?

the ex-dream couple

tracksmagazine 04

also at the grammys but when???

so now i went out hunting for glimpses of fiona, this is what i found (i like the fact that she´s a rather shy being and not so easily sighted and captivated by a camera like so many other famous people)

beautiful photos, dear somnambule! i've been unable to TFS these past weeks, but i'm happy to be back and cross paths! earlier today fiona was walking with me (through my ipod) and these particular words resonated within me: "if you don't have a point to make, don't sweat it; you make a sharp one being so kind, and i sure appreciate it" my sleepy mind can't find more words to write, but i do think this is a good time to share some more images of this rare one-of-a-kind apple of our eye! this is gonna be a bit of picspam, but i belive it's justified!

she does, doesn't she, electricladyland?
(oh, i love her cover of "across the universe" as well...and the video is one of best ever!)

p.s. if you haven't yet checked out maude maggart, fiona's sister, you should: she has a superb voice and performs lovely, amazing versions of 1920s/'30s songs!

let leave you with fiona's mesmerizing eyes (truly windows into the soul)!

this gloomy sunday (here in buenos aires, at least) calls for some goodies to cheer us up and elevate the spirit! in case any of you haven't seen fiona's version of the 1926 song "you belong to me", here it is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPotsCgt7jg

regarding fiona's sister, you must check her out, especially her first album "look for the silver lining" (all songs for the 1920's)! so beautiful! (they're hard to find, so let me know, anyone who's interested, if you don't, and that can be solved )
there isn't much on the web of her, but here's a little sample:

(i tried to embed the videos, but it didn't work )
