I love her hair and sense of style! She's the singer I'd most like to swap wardrobes with for sure. And I always doubted her age too, but she was at school with one of my housemate's friends who swears she IS actually 22.
I THINK ITS INCREDIBLE!!! To be fair, i love most Live Lounge stuff
Me too, I've just found out its on the Live Lounge album, so I no longer have to listen to it only on youtube! I am a huge live lounge fan as well, so happy it is now on the weekends too, as I'm at work in the week. The emotion in her voice while shes singing it is just insane!
i didn't discover her until VERY recently but i've loved what i've heard so far and i ordered her CD on amazon...
it should be on it's way right now.. very excited
We gave Florence a disposable camera in LA, to take pictures of herself on tour. That one got stolen from her dressing room. So we gave her another one and she took these amazing photos in France.
chrissy, sort of in the same boat. i was aware of her initially but i kind of avoided any interest to listen full-on because of all the hype that surrounds her. but i have to say i gave dog days are gone a listen and i am pretty impressed. what i don't like though is how so many critics and amateur critics keep drawing comparisons to bat for lashes and i quite honestly do not hear that at all. and to even lump her together like that not only is an insult to florence but also natasha.
^^i totally agree about the bat for lashes comparison...
doesn't make sense to me AT ALL
as far as i'm concerned they have a completely different sound
what's the similarity? that they are both female? both British? i hate this need that everyone has to compare musicians/actresses/performers etc and to almost pit them against each other.
i've been listening to the cd on one of my playlists and the songs are jumbled with a bunch of other new music that i acquired.. and i have to say...
i keep finding myself turning it up or stopping what i'm doing whenever one of florence's songs come on...
they get better with every listen i think
^it's almost as if the moment a female artist mentions kate bush and siouxsie & the banshees as influences they take that as a correlation with other contemporaries.
why is it female artists are so often pigeonholed compared with men? they did the same thing with goldfrapp when they came on the scene....the portishead comparisons. and then it turned into bjork. personally,i've heard far more original material from the women(and bands with female voices-vision,that is) over the last years than i have men.
i agree,i don't get it. i mean, the only thing i hear that's remotely similar is that they're both quite imaginative and fantastical.
chrissy.....do you like cosmic love as well? i've fallen for that one now
^I love Cosmic Love! Its so gorgeous. Shes actually on the radio over here right now being interviewed - not only is she talented, but I've never heard being anything other than lovely. She did a really good cover of 'Last Christmas' which hopefully will be up on youtube in a bit.
Out of interest, how has she been received by 'mainstream' US? Does she get much radio play?
