Yes, I've heard it and I'm very curious as to whether she can pull this off. The new album 'Have One On Me' is a 3-CD set! Her songs tend to be pretty epic but can she sustain the quality over that length. Will be interesting to see.

rawkblog.net

There's two new songs been made available on dragcity.com. They are also on youtube (for now):

The second song is very different.

Annabel Mehran/dragcity.com

Album is out February 23rd in US, March 1st in UK.

i'm ridiculously excited for this new album! it definitely seems to be a departure from what we're used to hearing from her, and Ys is my favorite album of all time - so it's easy to hope for something similar, but i'm so interested in where she is going with her music.
somehow i'm seeing her twice on this tour, in two different cities, two days in a row. we have 5th row seats for the Milwaukee show - i'll definitely give some reports.

here's a detail from the album cover... couldn't resist the zoom... haha.

she sounded great, and was so adorable! although i would love to see her blow everyone away with her harp playing. but i think the choice of song was a good one.

is anyone else seeing her on this tour?

OMG, this is so bizarre...I met her in 2008 and only realized it last night read on...

I used to work at the Chanel boutique in Chicago in 2008. One day a young woman walked in with unusually long hair and a summery hippie dress...

She had an aura about her that's rather inexpressible. She was extremely courteous and smiley (not common among our typical customers). She also had amazing taste. She tried on & bought my favorite shoes ever (in fact, once I saw them on her I had to purchase them!). She tried on, but did not purchase some stunning red jeweled gloves that no one had ever dared to try on. I remember my fellow employee thought she was kind of strange b/c she picked up a Chanel necklace and draped it across her forehead to try it on. I just remember secretly thinking, wow, this chick is so refreshing! She was accompanied by a tall, very average and unfashionable looking guy who looked completely uninterested in anything fashion. The fact that they were such a juxtapositional pair was probably another reason I never forgot her as a customer.

So anyways, years go by and I always remembered her b/c she had such amazing, unique style. I just bought the latest issue of Lula a few weeks ago and read the article about her, not making any connection...

then, out of nowhere lastnight I put two and two together, quite strange as I still haven't even heard a song of hers. Today I was hunting around for pictures of her with the Chanel shoes just to verify that I wasn't losing my mind. Though I was not able to find photos I did find video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIw4U0rqup4

...and I most definitely met Joanna Newsom
