I think he's overrated, but much better than most other pop music out there. The musical arrangements are just so distasteful, hackneyed, and cheesy. Also, not all the songs he sings suit his voice.
okay to think he dosn't have talent would be stupid! He has a awesome range for his style of music! I like him my sister has his cd's I dunno if I could listen to him alot though..

The Prayer and Canto Alla Vita, respectively. I love them too.
Most of the songs I like from him are NOT his singles (Mi Morena, Si Volvieras A Mi, etc)
I do actually like him a lot...he's really good live, which I find to be very rare these days...Some of his songs are a little sappy, but generally I find them quite pleasing to listen to, and he does have a nice voice.
he's good. i have to be in a certain mood to want to listen to him though...

Aleksandr: Please.
Carrie: [Reads from Vogue] "Cocktails at Tiffanys calls for classic charm. Oscar de la Renta sleeveless silk full skirted dress with black patent leather bow belt." Now that is pure poetry.
He has an awesome voice, but I don't like a lot that he sings. The ones I tend to like are the non-English ones because some of them are a bit less sappy. He sings an odd blend of pop and pseudo-opera/classical style...'popra,' maybe. It's more pop-ish, but it tries to be operatic because he is classically trained...his talent is so far above what he sings, I think...what he degrades himself to sing, I mean...

I can see what you mean, but I think that he's got a fanbase right now and his own personal taste swings more towards to rock (the man can really play percussion), and opera purists have heart attacks when they hear about him (saying that his pronounciation isn't good, etc), so I don't think that any change is feasible right now, even if he could probably do some spectacular operatic pieces. He has a good tone to his voice, and there's a good richness to his baritone/low tenor that's hard to find these days...
