Just listened to the album and "Lolita" was destroyed indeed.
"Diet Mtn Dew" isn't bad, but the demo version is much better, especially the version with the "hit me my darling..." lines.
It's a great album anyway. Fortunately she released the demo versions so we can listen to them as well.

Even Kate Moss has been won over by enigmatic music sensation Lana Del Rey.

"That Lana Del Rey is quite cute isn't she? I quite like her," said the supermodel. "I can't stop singing that song in my head. It's so catchy. And she looks great. Like Priscilla [Presley]."

I wasn't impressed by her image or music and her SNL performance didn't help but her voice sounds beautiful on BBC Radio.. very natural and honest (adjectives I didn't associate her with at all).

Thanks for all the work and keeping this so active, ana!

Wonderful performance at BBC Radio. Why does she always sing Video Games? I thought Born to Die is the it song.

My pleasure, MP.
The BBC radio performance was definitely one of her best and, indeed, most honest.

It's been a while since I haven't become such a huge fan of a new artist. Since Amy Winehouse, I think. The first video I saw was actually "Blue Jeans", I was fascinated by her looks and her voice, and also really liked the video. Then "Video Games" was enough for me to start searching for more of her music everywhere I could. I felt like suddenly there was finally a new female artist with the looks, the voice and the lyrics. Manufactured or not, all I cared about was that she seemed to have it all. I also loved the fact that there was no "preaching" in her songs, nor deep meanings behind the videos. I like this idea of building an aesthetic that is sonically and visually harmonious just because it sounds and looks good for the artist. It touches me more. I prefer a beautiful sad love story to any society-critical empowerment message (no wonder Amy was the last one to impress me).
