I dunno I haven't seen that issue yet as I have been hearing some rather critical opinions on the issue(besides the fact that the publisher pulled the rug from Margiela's editing and Walter and FFI not associating themselves with the issue AT ALL)....a bit hit and miss and overly pretentious.

And I don't understand this 10 year anniversary nonsense. Aren't other people supposed to arrange that kind of stuff not the designers themselves? Fat egos?

As far as everything else,I find them quite the hypocrites after preaching so much about creativity and innovation only just months ago;now they're taking the most commercial company in L'Oréal in backing to become "a global brand" in their own words. Such wonderous talents now being wasted for the sake of the masses. They're choice,of course, but they will sure be losing faithful fans.

i know, i know scott* but see, regardless their UBER fat egos, V&R are real talented and since they draw a line with their 'first ten years' i'd say its ok to have their retrospective (the exhibition is supposed to be adorable, that came from a non-V&R fan , i'm absolutely visiting the show in February)

i really recomend the e-magazine retrospective issue, it costs only 15 euros and it sure worth it, just to have all V&R info in one place, give it a try.

i hope to scan some pictures & post here

I really do want to have a gander at E,no matter how aggravated I am about certain circumstances, just so I can form my own opinion. And yes,I do feel they are über talented and have been for quite some time. Just certain aspects I find kind of unsavory. You know what I mean?

Christopher,A-Z is the magazine which was founded by(as it was his idea and concept from the very beginning) the imagintive wunderkind Walter Van Beirendonck and co-founded by the Flanders Fashion Institute. Its premise is to have guest curators for each issue(like the alphabet)to make each and every one completely different and distinct in itself. It has now, since E,after initially planning to have Martin Margiela curate the issue, the publisher in The Netherlands decided to do his own thing and use V&R, and that sparked Walter & Co. to disassociate themselves.

I absolutely want to see their show even if I'm not a hard-core fan. IMO, I wouldn't mind them going commercial as long they still have innovation and not go totally overboard in another direction (i.e unabashedly commercial).

Oh I definitely want to see this as I adore what they've done previously. That "Black Hole" collection, the "Queen of Hearts"(as I call it) and the one from Fall 2002 with all the electric blues and tartan plaids....those were all really enchanting collections and by far my favourites.

Igni*,I'm afraid that's the direction they WANT to head into. Hence,I said a "global brand". What's sad is that it isn't like their works weren't commercial or sellable in the first place. Now they're just giving into consumerism.
