you sure know her when you hear her voice (very deeeep).
she was singer with the velvet underground for a short period (femme fatale, all tomorrow´s parties, i´ll be your mirror etc.)
then she recorded several solo albums of which (chelsea girl, marble index...)
she had severe drug problems...her records didn´t sell too well when she wasn´t the "teutonic beauty" anymore, she died in ibiza falling off her bike...
and she had a child with french actor alain delon...

might well be (about the vinyls)
her death is tragic but then she was always talking about death...
there is a great documentary about her called nico:icon by the german filmmaker susanne ofteringer.

Icon12 vu

she was a big model in london & paris by 1964/65.
she recorded a song that jimmy page played on. ['Im not saying'].
she came to nyc. got in with warhol factory scene.
andy discovered velvet underground.
he forced them to use her on 1st lp. [the vu + nico].
that might be the greatest Lp ever. well after 'pet sounds' anyway.
she appeared in chelsea girls a huge art house film.
she was fired from vu. she did not appear on any more vu Lps.
her solo debut lp 'chelsea girl' is incredible, incl songs by lou reed & jackson browne. she was produced by john cale.
her solo career lasted in 70s & 80s.
she is more goth than siouxsie & bauhaus combined.
she was more death obsesseed than any singer ive ever heard, well other than jacques brel.
her Lps marble index, the end, & desert shore are also amazing.
too intense for most.
she was a heroin addict i believe from late 60s until her death.
she fell off a bike in ibiza & died.
the film 'nico icon' is beautiful, you will cry.
she is one more reason the 60s models may still be the best ever.

Love her. I heard she dated Jim Morrison. Bought Chelsea Girls after seeing The Royal Tenenbaums and loved it.

Going to have to agree with the above: I love her!

This is the first time I've really seen pictures of her though. Judging by her voice I thought she would be a short pretty Russian with a burnette bob cut. I don't know why I thought that, she's beautiful though.

I've been just reading on this board, but I decided to register because I wanted to thank you for this thread. I am a big fan of the Velvet Underground and loved Nico on The Velvet Underground and Nico album. Once again, THANKS!
