certainly if you listen to wind in the wires....definitely more emotionally wrenching. but his writing,its like goldfrapp to me...alot of his lyrics like on the libertine are visual metaphors for something incredibly melancholic.
See to me, he is just a guy who wishes he were Nick Cave. But he is not. So he kicks up the scenester chic a notch. But then I just love Nick Cave so I could be biased.
^i adore nick cave too and there's certainly no denying his influence on him but i also know he has other influences which are pretty obvious...like bjork...kate bush...pj...
that's another thing i admire of him. i think it's even more refreshing since this kind of artistry is coming from a gay man. for once somebody who doesn't follow that stereotypical notion that we all love and are influenced by madonna or abba. and he's so anti in that part of music too which is another refreshing bit.
