Bought Just Kids as an audiobook, and it's so good. Having Patti read to me as I drift off to sleep is absolutely wonderful.

The PS favorite book list is amazing.

Just Kids was delicate, discomforting, poetic, harsh and lovely. So worth a read.

Yeah... me too. I still need to read The Coral Sea... it's only been released as a hardcover/photo book and it's finally coming out in paperback form in my country (much more budget friendly--yay!), with a pretty Robert Mapplethorpe photo on the cover.

agreed Mullet! of course i expect nothing less from the poetess.

btw,if none of you have read it,i would so recommend getting the recent re-release of her wondrous 'woolgathering'. i got it over christmas and it reminds me of my own childhood. it speaks like a magical fairy-tale but is true.

^ there seems to be a page missing...

it's funny, the facts in that article don't match up to 'just kids', like how she met robert mapplethorpe... hmm...

So guys, Banga is coming out in just a few days (June 5)! I pre-ordered the deluxe cd-book, I'm so excited to receive it. Master & Margarita is one of my favourite books so just the title alone gives me high hopes. :p
I read a review on BBC music a few days ago and it lifted Banga as Patti's best album since Horses.

amazon.co.uk

Banga Tracklist:

01. Amerigo
02. Fuji-san
03. April Fool
04. This Is The Girl
05. Banga
06. Maria
07. Tarkovsky (The Second Stop is Jupiter)
08. Mosaic
09. Nine
10. Seneca
11. Constantine’s Dream
12. After The Gold Rush
13. Just Kids (bonus track)

"This Is The Girl" is a tribute to Amy Winehouse and "Nine" is a birthday song for Johnny Depp. "Fuji-san" is a prayer for the people of Japan after the 2011 tsunami. The Special Edition hard cover book includes 64 pages of original images, complete lyrics & liner notes by Patti Smith plus an exclusive track (Just Kids).

'just kids" made me cry. it was so good!

i liked the story about being in an automat and being short a dime. allen ginsberg fronted her the coins because he thought she was a boy!

ive always thought she would have made a great poet laureate.

her detective novel will be out next year.

I've never had any sincere interest in her at all but bought 'Just Kids' a while ago because it was on sale for $3 and I just started reading it yesterday. Am halfway through and am totally hooked, I feel really close to her right now because the stories are so honest, detailed and well-written. It's awesome.
