Also, check out Beth Gibbons' side project with Rustin Man "Out Of Season", as well as Geoff Barrow's (the producer) side project "Mckay". Both must haves for every Portishead fan.

You guys ever see the live DVD from New York? F-ing epic. I lot of the more obscure stuff is awesome too. Look for the album Trip Hop Reconstruction.

It is,indeed.

I too am a P-HEAD. I have both "Dummy" and "Portishead" and their Live at Roseland album. They sound really good live. Their music you could always connect with if you were feeling a bit down and depressed. And believe you me,I was in a deep one at one time.

Beth Gibbons had a voice similar to Karen Carpenter when she sang more melancholy ballads.... very haunting. It worked well with that bizarre sound of their's too.

Yeah, those are all great bands as well. I listen to all of them on a regular basis. ESPECIALLY Massive Attack. Protection is an absolute classic. Mezzanine and 100th Window pretty much stay on heavy rotation in the auto. I love how theatrical Hooverphonic can be at times. I combined all of their albums and made myself a couple of interesting car compilations.

Up! I this band. So many songs linked with so many moments in my life... Can't name one fav song but I especially like their live album. Also Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man album was really good - much less trip-hopey but very beautiful.
