^ That's why I just through them in the NEW emo category...... it's just like emo, but like a bit more hardcore...... as in rock...... pretending to be rockstars... but emos at heart..... if that makes any sense......

The Bravery is indie-rock. Not even close to emo.

Emo would be;
bright eyes
the used
taking back sunday
finch
fall out boy
the get up kids
the lyndsay diaries
rufio
mae
something corporate
the rocket summer
plain white t's
death cab for cutie (sometimes)
the postal service (sometimes)

That's right. I just went thru my itunes. I don't find all those bands to have "whiney" voices. But its true that the lyrics are often about broken relationships.. la de daaaa. I like EMO music. And Im proud.

I love the definition that describes them as "Punk on Estrogen."

I would never call bright eyes and death cab for cutie emo! They are indie bands, and their lyrics are not all about "my life sucks i want to die". The perfect example of Emo is silverchair, definitely.

Haha, please. So it isnt emotional saying that your life suck and you want to die? well, ok. Anyways, you can't take it so seriously that all emotional music is emo. Emo has becomed a category based on teens and their melodramatic lifes. Again, here's an example from Silverchair:

I dream about, how it's going to end,
Approaching me quickly,
Leaving a life of fear,
I only want my mind to be clear,
People, making fun of me,
For no reason but jealousy,
I fantasise about my death,
I'll kill myself from holding my breath,

THATS emo. Emotional in the meaning of "whining" to be honest. There are lots of beautiful emotional music out there that would not be in the emo category

Generalizing is obnoxious. *sigh. Even all the music by any certain emo artist does NOT always say something about wanting to die.

And Conor Obherst has one of the whiniest and emo-ish lyrics of them all!

"OK". The question was "what do you consider emo" and I answered. I did not say ALL lyrics by emo-bands expressed suicidal feelings. I said whining. But if you don't agree, fine. Nothing to start calling me obnoxious for
