Cara Delevingne Arrives For The Cannes Film Festival With A Burberry Bag In Tow - May 15 2013
Quote:
Earlier this week, we heard quite frankly fascinating rumours that Leonardo DiCaprio had invited our very own Cara Delevingne (and BFF Rita Ora) to accompany him to the Cannes Film Festival. Could this really be true? we squealed. Considering Leo has a penchant for leggy blonde beauties with Victoria's Secret wings, it certainly didn't sound amiss - and yet, nothing was confirmed...
But wait! In the last hour, snaps have arrived of Cara landing at Nice airport right next to where - yup, you guessed it - the Cannes Film Festival is kicking off today. In fact, 'The Great Gatsby' is set to premiere at the red carpet extravanganza this very evening and, as you know, the Hollywood actor is the star of that show. So perhaps Miss Delevingne really IS set to be Leo's super-hot date?
One thing's for sure, Cara has stepped off the plane with a ginormous suitcase in tow. No doubt it's filled with designer garb to get those paparrazi bulbs a-flashing but there's one bag in particular that's caught our eye - and it comes from Burberry.
Yes, hooked onto Cara's biker-clad arm is a Burberry hanger which maybe, just maybe, gives us a clue of what's to come from her ensemble tonight if she does indeed hit the red carpet. As we all know, the model du jour is the face of the Brit brand - most recently starring in the beauty campaign shot by Mario Testino - and chose to wear Burbs for the Met Ball last week so it's a likely bet. The question is: which frock will she choose? Watch. This. Space.

I was wondering why she was there because she doesn't seem to be here for a special brand or anything and I don't think (well, I really hope) Cannes festival invited her for the 'hype'.
So I guess this makes sense even if yes, she is young for him...
Leo reminds me of Matthew McConaughey's character in Dazed and Confused. He gets older, but his girls stay the same age. It's getting really creepy though.
^ Agreed. I respect him professionally but personally he seems... gross.
He goes through all these young models so quickly. Women = temporary play-things for him.
Definitely. He's hugely talented, but wth, he is knocking on 40's door right now. What could he possibly have in common with a girl who's barely 20? For Cara's sake, I hope it's not true. I know most people around here think she's over-hyped, but I think she's adorable and can do waaaayyyy better.

Every year there are a lot of people who have absolutely nothing to do in Cannes and yet are there.
I think there's a kind of "sponsor" thing going on. For exemple there will be invitations for a tv channel and this tv channel can choose to come with a reality tv star. (Correct me if I'm wrong, it's just the only way I can explain the presence of some "celebrities".)
CANNES, France - A man was arrested at the Cannes film festival on Friday after firing a starting pistol during a live TV broadcast on the palm-lined waterfront, sending actors Christoph Waltz and Daniel Auteuil running for cover.
French TV station Canal+ was interviewing Austria's Oscar-winning Waltz and French actor Auteuil live on its nightly news show from a beach-front set before a crowd of spectators when a man fired two shots into the air.
"The bodyguards jumped over the barriers into the crowd and pulled him to the ground. The police arrived and told everyone to run because there was a grenade in his hand," witness Arthur Laiguesse told Reuters.
Police arrested the man at the scene and found he was carrying a dummy grenade and a knife, authorities said.
"It really appears to be a crazy guy," said a police source.
After the man was taken away, the show's producers told the crowd the program would continue: "The show must go on."
Waltz, who has won two best supporting actor Oscars for "Django Unchained" and "Inglourious Basterds", and Auteuil, both of whom are serving on the Cannes jury, returned to the set.
The shooting was the second security incident on day three of the 12-day festival, the world's largest cinema showcase that attracts thousands of actors, directors, film executives, journalists and fans.
A police source said $1.4 million worth of Chopard jewellery intended to adorn movie stars had been stolen from a room at the Suite Novotel hotel overnight on Thursday.
But Chopard said the value had been exaggerated and the items were not for actresses to use, declining to give further details.
And of course the perfect The Bling Ring promotion:

Jewels Stolen During Cannes Festival
PARIS—Hours after the Cannes Film Festival premiered Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring," depicting a gang of Hollywood jewel thieves, a real-world heist lifted $1.4 million of jewelry from a hotel in Cannes, French prosecutors said.
The jewels were stolen in the early hours of Friday from an employee of Swiss jeweler Chopard, an official sponsor of the Cannes festival and maker of its iconic Palme d'Or award, prosecutors said.
Chopard said the jewels weren't part of the collection to be worn by actresses at the festival, and that the value of the stolen pieces was "far lower than those in the figures circulating in the media." The company didn't give an estimated value of the stolen goods.
The employee had left the jewelry in the safe of her hotel room at the four-star Novotel in Cannes, they said. Upon returning to her room at 2 a.m. on Friday, the employee saw that the safe had been taken off the wall and stolen, prosecutors said. Preliminary investigation suggests it was a burglary, said Jean-Michel Caillau, the prosecutor in the nearby town of Grasse, who is conducting the probe.
"The majority of the jewels belong to the company Chopard, but it seems some are owned by other private persons, we have no detailed inventory yet," he said.
The Novotel hotel chain's parent company declined to comment.
