RIOT TIME
Considering that even Valentino didn't like Alessandra so much I don't think international press will create a big deal

Can you imagine the depression and hurt she's probably going through?

Being replaced twice, failing twice, not knowing what she's doing wrong (b/c she ain't doing anything wrong).

Hell I'd prob. lock myself up in a chateau for several months.

Her designs at Valentino were flawless! This is so disturbing to me.

Totally agree! And that's why I can't understand decision of replacing her.

Me too......it feels like a wrongful death or freak accident. Perhaps a little extreme, but I think this decision to let her go is extreme.

I say some wealthy family or private business or something revives a defunct haute couture house and allow her to design there. I think she would work at any one as she possesses the elegance of haute couture. So very upset.

I can only hope all of this makes Alessandra more determined to succeed; if there are frequent clashes between her and 'those above' then perhaps working for herself is the best long-term option. Then she can exercise her skills and integrity to build her own brand, rather than being used - twice - by companies as sandwich filler between the bread.

wow this is a sad day, her job at valentino was flawless for me an her SS09 collection is gorgeous, I don't understand how she could be replaced, but the show didn't had a single bag so maybe that's the problem.

Accerories designers doing rtw and Couture JA, we all know what that means.

Please somebody give her her own house.

So these accessory designers are the 'true successors' to Valentino?

But then why didn't they take the reigns before Alessandra

It it financially sound to replace designers like this?

Well in a popularity contest of Alessandra vs random Accessory designs........she clearly wins eventhough she is not so well-known really. So it keeps the eyes on the house and allows it to retain it's prestigious nature if they hire a (semi) well-known designer other than them just hiring something random. So wrong to play like this!

(posted this in the Valentino S/S 09 thread)

The old Valentino was the epitome of Old-Hollywood, old-world luxury, jet-set glamour. It was aimed (I feel) towards a more mature and "lacquered" clientele - the Duchesses and Baronesses of aristocrat Europe, the Golden Age of Hollywood actresses.

Much of complaint with that Valentino was that his designs were too anachronistic, a desperate effort to cling on to a world and and social hierarchy that had already died into the past.

Alessandra's designs are the true to the Valentino aesthetic, but she revived the house by making the house more modern and haunting. She injected a quality of lightness to Valentino that was missing before.

I'm going to miss her.

I agree with you guys but on the other hand it's not her fashion house so Valentino can do whatever he likes. If they didn't have a good relations maybe it's good to replace Alessandra (good for her and Valentino). But what's realy sad is that once again great designer/person have to move out from one fashion house becouse somebody doesn't like him/her or evetyhing is about money, clients ect.

I hope Alessandra will open her own fahion house. She' great designer, she showed her talent in Gucci and Valentino. It'll be better for her. If I were her, I would like to start everything over, on my own acount. Not just to wait for another fashion house to give me a job for season or two.

At the end of that article it said, "It is understood the move is subject to board approval"........so what does this mean? Is she out officially or does it require a vote still?

I hope a vote is required and I hope the board members have a heart...and while I certainly understand this is a business, I would hope they would understand that Alessandra needs more than 3 collections to prove herself (although I wholeheartedly think she has ALREADY proven herself worthy).

I also think Alessandra for Valentino would have been a smart move for the long term...because she really is true to the ideas of Valentino, therefore satisfying the old customer, but she's made it more youthful which will eventually bringing in new customers. But because of the economic situation we are in, there really isn't a lot of spending going on therefore limiting the potential numbers of new Valentino customers. If the board and CEO's would realize this, they would understand that after this economic crisis is eased, a whole new Valentino customer base will arise.

Someone like Giambattista is like a bandaide...he's not going to solve the financial troubles Valentino might be facing right now (although I can hardly assume they're desparate)...he'll bring Victoria Beckham with him and she'll wear Valentino to premiers, blah blah blah, and Valentino will be the same as it always was and no new customers will be drawn in.
