Ahhh, i'm looking at this series for my current project.
I think they're very very interesting, (sorry to revive a slightly old thread by the way).
I'm not sure the point of them is to downright provoke emotion, hence the reason she photographed actors and not normal people, when you photography actors crying i think its basically saying straight out... "they aren't crying genuinely, they're acting" it'd be pretty weird for Sam Taylor Wood to turn up and make a load of grown men cry genuinely.

I think whats interesting about these photos is how they give quite a big message about photography in general. How, if you didn't know these men were actors or you saw them without any idea of their background, some of them are quite emotional, but this means none of them are true. Photography doesn't tell a truth whatsoever, infact this is a prime example of how a photo can lie. Also, i think they are quite creative because I can think of none one else whose done a full series of famous men in tears thats not a false promo shoot/editorial in a magazine to look stylised.

I quite like Sam Taylor Wood's work (except her David Beckham video which is a bit pretentious i feel).

Also, thanks for posting the images, very helpful to my project!
