lagerfeld is gay - he confirmed it over and over again throughout the years

but: i was shocked by his newest interview i admit although he always gives crazy interviews - interviewed by brucelabruce
but talking about expensive escorts etc.= wtf? and not liking the idea of gay couples being married just because it isn't punk enough? i know he is an artist and very 'different' but still, same rights for everyone

vice magazine

Quote:
You are against the idea of gay marriage. I totally agree with you on that.
Yes, I’m against it for a very simple reason: In the 60s they all said we had the right to the difference. And now, suddenly, they want a bourgeois life.

It’s normalizing.
For me it’s difficult to imagine—one of the papas at work and the other at home with the baby. How would that be for the baby? I don’t know. I see more lesbians married with babies than I see boys married with babies. And I also believe more in the relationship between mother and child than in that between father and child.

.....[]

And you have no problem with porn, either.
No. I admire porn.

This is another thing that we have in common.
And I personally only like high-class escorts. I don’t like sleeping with people I really love. I don’t want to sleep with them because sex cannot last, but affection can last forever. I think this is healthy. And for the way the rich live, this is possible. But the other world, I think they need porn. I also think it’s much more difficult to perform in porn than to fake some emotion on the face as an actor.

oh dear. does anybody really care what this man thinks about this? he's a fool and is living in the past. of course it's going to be mainstream, that's why they call it equality. secondly, isn't our culture already rather homogenised in a sense? forgive me but his personal ideals are his and we all are in fact different but having rights like any other cool, arty straight person who marries,is not that grotesque to think about. it's merely an option for those that want it. and this idea that all that decide they want it,want it because they want to become suburbanites,is absurd. to me it sounds just like another form of narrow-mindedness...unfortunately coming from within.

Agreed ... unfortunately that relationship between mother and child is pretty important, and I think a lot of Karl's issues (well highlighted here in this interview) can be traced directly back to his unfortunate mother. Too bad he couldn't have been raised by two well-adjusted papas instead

his unfortunate mother was the one to tell him what homosexuality was when he was a kid. he has told the story many times and i think it's in that interview too. for her, being gay was "like hair color" some are blond and some are brunette, or redheads... it made no difference.
from a german woman who was born and raised about a hundred years ago, that's a pretty "well-adjusted" answer i would say. better adjusted than what most people would even answer today.

^ Everyone has their good points.

Her son is an emotional cripple, in my view, and she seems to have fostered that. Nature and nurture, probably ...

In the documentry Lagerfeld Confidential ( i think that's what it's called) he says that he was either raped or sexual assualted by someone when he was young and his mother blamed him for it. That says alot..

i can't remember what he said in the film, but he did talk about that situation in an interview for french tv where he specified the man only "tried" to assault him, and he specifies that he ran.
what his mother blamed him for, was wearing clothes that for that time were considered provocative (shall we not forget we are talking early post nazi/world war 20th century in the german country side here)

What is it with mothers ... I was once shopping in a somewhat dicey neighborhood (great antique and vintage shops!), and some church people from Oklahoma gave me some of the food they were cooking for the homeless. (I guess all the Oakies have been helped?! ) When I told my mother, she asked me what I was wearing. (A silk skirt & sweater as it happened.) Always blaming the victim, haven't they heard you don't do that

karl loves to tell stories about his mother.
another personal favorite is when she met one of karl's teachers at school. the teacher asked her to cut his son's hair, which was long unlike anyone else's. And then Super-frau-lagerfeld takes the man by his tie and replies "why? are you a stupid nazi?" ·_·
anyway, slightly off topic, but surprising nevertheless

I love Karl and his frivolous stories...in an interview with the german journalist Michael Lueg he once revealed that he was seduced by his nanny "she did not only teach me to speak french..."
