Jenna Lyons, J.Crew Creative Director, leaves husband for a fashion industry woman

Millionaire J Crew boss who painted five-year-old son's toenails pink splits from husband - and moves on with lesbian lover

One of America's most influential female fashion executives is divorcing her husband and has fallen in love with another woman.
Jenna Lyons, the president and creative director of J Crew, is leaving Vincent Mazeau for a lesbian relationship with her new lover.
The marriage collapsed in the summer but the couple are now hammering out who should get custody of their son Beckett, five.
Lyons' lesbian lover has not been identified but reportedly works in the fashion industry.
According to the New York Post Mazeau wants the family home in the city and a large amount of money because he held back on his career as an artist to be a house husband and let his wife flourish.
She however claims that she supported him financially, bought him a studio and made it possible for him not to work every day.
The divorce is a blemish on the stellar career of Lyons, 42, who is among the most powerful figures in fashion and has spawned profiles with titles like 'the cult of J Crew'.
According to Forbes magazine she has 'icon status comparable to the likes of superstar designers like Donna Karan and Miuccia Prada'.
Another blog said that 'the more you know about Jenna Lyons, the more you wish she was your best friend'.
In 2009 she earned $750,000 in basic salary but was given a $1.5million bonus and a string of other benefits, taking her total pay to $4.2million.

Under her watch J Crew has become one of the most successful brands on the high street by mixing down-to-Earth luxury with understated chic.
Michelle Obama wore J Crew when she appeared on Jay Leno's show in 2008 and has been seen a number of times since wearing its clothes.
The First Lady also dressed her daughters in Crewcuts, the firm's children's line, to their father's inauguration the same year.
Lyons once gave Oprah Winfrey a tour of her closet for a TV special. She, Mazeau and Beckett have also featured in a string of magazine profiles at their home in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Two profiles in Livingetc and Domino magazine features pictures of the gorgeous flowering dogwood tree in their back garden, their stunning black bathroom with brass fixtures and the beautiful walk through living room with chandelier.
Lyons has been with J Crew since 1990 when she joined as an assistant designer and has held a variety of positions including creative director since 2007 and president since last year.
Each month in her role as J Crew's 'commander-in-chic' she chooses her recommendation for the coming weeks, usually sparking a run on most of the items.
In one of her very rare blunders Lyons was criticised earlier this year for using Beckett in a J Crew advert in which she painted his toenails pink.

The advert, dubbed' Toemageddon' by Daily Show host Jon Stewart, was criticised by psychiatrists who said it would confuse children about their gender.
Lyons and Mazeau got married in 2002 at the picturesque Gedney Farm in New Marlborough, Massachusetts in a casual ceremony with a 'homespun, natural feel'
Adding to the charm was that Lyons designed her own wedding dress with flowers, leaves, and pheasants on it and they ate cupcakes from the famous Magnolia Bakery in New York instead of a wedding cake.

According to the New York Post the couple are inching towards a custody agreement and also working on a settlement about the house.

A J Crew spokesperson said: 'We do not comment on our associates' private lives.'

I wonder who the other woman is. Can't wait to see a chic lesbian fashion couple go public.

I wonder who the woman is too: hard not to be curious... Changing teams and all.

Is that the guy from the Foo Fighters?!

Anyway it kinda sounds like she's a tad too ambitious, and there's nothing wrong with that but I don't think she's going on about right

Who is this woman and why should I be interested in the fact that she's leaving her husband for another woman?

Actually I think it's relevant because her whole branding and image is this uber "perfect life". J crew became a lifestyle brand because of her. So many bloggers want her life, fabulous career, beautiful family, great home, etc. J Crew's profile grew because of Jenna's appearances on Domino magazine, Martha Stewart, Oprah etc. and a lot of times she was talking about living in this ideal working mom world.

Jenna Lyons is a huge fashion inspiration to me (as well as being a great business woman) - so I'm super surprised by this. but I would hardly call this a blemish on her career - since when is getting divorced a blemish? Would you say the same of a man who was CEO at Disney?

I really don't think she's pretended to have the 'perfect life' - any woman today who is very successful with a family will have a magazine profile done of her that makes it look like she has it all. J.Crew as a brand is not about wholesome, innocent perfect people and it's not a lifestyle brand. The ranges have been extended but J.Crew is strong because she made sure there were many different J. Crew women. those who want a basic tee or tank and are very classically American or those who want sequined skinny trousers for $700 and travel the world, those who do both, etc.

Good for her - and it would be EPIC if it was Melissa Webb. Super curious to know who it is. But good for her for doing what makes her happy.

I'll take the brownstone in Brooklyn though - it's gorg.
