As we previously reported, John Travolta is currently hammering out a deal to play the bossman himself.

It's no small movie either -- according to sources, the budget so far is $75 million.

No word yet on what Lindsay would be getting paid -- but hey, a job's a job.

And the producers are going to get a completion bond for Lindsay- How?? I thought this biopic was filming soon- what are the odds that Lindsay has her head on straight, is out of trouble(s) and not locked up for the next 8-10 months??

Lindsay Lohan beat out Blake Lively AND Sienna Miller for her new role as Victoria Gotti -- and TMZ has learned ... Victoria herself made sure that happened.

Sources close to the production tell TMZ, producers were considering both Blake and Sienna for the role -- but John Gotti's famously blonde daughter wasn't having it, insisting Lindsay get the role instead ... and producers loved the idea.

Not all that surprising -- according to sources, Victoria is a good friend of the Lohan family ... and she often spends time with them on Long Island.

Meanwhile, Lindsay is currently in L.A. auditioning for "Superman" -- but we're told she already has a plane ticket back to NYC for April 12th ... to close the Gotti deal for good

BTW: Ever notice how big, money in the bank acting roles materialize out of thin air for Lindsay right before she has to go to court- none of which ever amount to anything? "Your Honor, Miss Lohan has gotten her life together and is getting back to work in a major way- you just can't lock the poor girl up now!!!"

^ Yes, well, now that people around New York are no longer scared to death of her father and his 'associates', she and her family are regarded as something of a joke, the cartoon character daughter of a mob boss...I really can't see that Blake or Sienna were ever seriously considering playing this part but this whole questionable story of Lindsay and her latest fantasy 'big deal' fits right in with the last several Big Deals that never amounted to anything but a couple of meaningless press releases... I guess it gets media coverage for the film and Lindsay and her gang will go along with just about anything these days to avoid facing their increasing irrelevance...
