That's hypocritcal and pointless.

EDIT: I think Seventeen does a great job. They use real girls to model clothing. So if they're talking about what looks good on a petite figure, they use a girl who's 5'2". I think that's great because it gives you a real idea of what something might look like on a girl of your height, shape or size.
Exactly! Even people that are happier with their bodies like to use body creams, self tanners, anti-cellulite creams, stretch marks preventing and reduction creams. Wrinkle creams to avoid premature aging. Just because you feel good about yourself doesn't mean you will let yourself go. But there's pointless to have a 16 year old advertsing a wrinkle cream for 40+, it really doesn't make sense. Same goes for clothing with super tall and thin models only. How can I know if those clothes will look good on my 5'1, 95lbs frame? there's no way... That's why I don't buy designer clothes at all.
They should have models ranging from all sizes and shapes. Short and petite, short and plus size, tall and amazon, tall and thin, thin/average height, tall and plus size, average height and plus. That would be de solution. Show that we should love our shapes to try to change it.

^^^

Exactly. And what bothers me a little is that the modeling agencies that claim to take attractive people of "all shapes and sizes" still tend to have more tall attractive people who may be larger than "typical model size" How is that "all shapes and sizes"?

I've lost a bit of respect for US Vogue

In the April 2007 issue they had a huge article on how models are too thin, and in the past they haven't really used sickly looking girls in the magazine...

... and yet Chanel Iman is going to join a host of other models on the cover. Hypocrite much, Vogue? She can't weigh more than 100 lbs even.

^i don't think khaotickharma's personal weight and figure is the issue here. chanel is undeniably too thin. the issue is that vogue is going back on their word.

i disagree she is undeniably too thin (because excluding her slenderness---she has no marks of malnourishent like:sunken cheecks, deep under eyecircles, a dull complexion, thinning hair, etc. however, i did not mean to attack khaotic. i should have rethought my statement. i was merly pointig out its hypocrtical thatshe is a scapegoat of the too-thin controversy, especially since tere are girls like pania rose who have all the features i listed above along with protruding hipbones, ribs, collarbones--etc. since these girls are 'curvy' everyone assumes they are bigger. having a boyish figure isn't a sureire sign of anorexia. also, i think there are more peoplethan many realize who wear teeny sizes. i have a couple of coillege-aged friends who are like that.

^i didn't mean she was unhealthy, there's no way for me to know that
what i meant by saying she is too thin, is that US vogue should not be going around advocating (which, by putting her on the cover, they are inevitably, if subliminaly, doing) an image like hers.

I was in a salon and came across a pic of Chanel Iman in ELLE. My mother was sitting beside me, glanced over and said "That child looks so sick... she needs help." She showed the pics to the hairdressers and other customers, all of whom agreed. Even if she is healthy (which I believe is 96% unlikely), she looks sick, which, when you are just looking at pictures, is basically the same thing.

i have had people tell my boyfirend i was possible bulimic---people can see what they want to see. especially women who are on their guard due to a stream of slim women imagery. in order for me to understand---can you point to a feature, besides her being skinny that makes her look unhealthy?
