It's way too soon to tell if things have turned around, but at least NYFW kicked off with a bunch of healty looking models! All of these girls at BCBG are having their first (full) show season (except Abbey-Lee), so they may be considered 'a new generation'. Off course they were aligned right next to very skinny girls who've already gained popularity in previous seasons, but that's beside the point. The contrast between BCBG's last F/W casting and this one is actually rather significant.. Especially when you notice which girls were put in the shortest dresses. For comparison look here.

I've never been much for Siri or discussing how thin models are (although I do post in here on occasion), but this photo struck me. She looks so small, as if she has the body of a ten year old. Even where she has her thigh over her other leg you cannot see any real indentation of fat or shape. I am probably over reacting but my initial reaction was, in an emoticon, .

Yea Siri's legs are pretty skinny and its not even like her legs are long (imo) i think they are very skinny, hasnt her legs been this thin since she started?

As far as Diana goes, the girl is only 16 or 17 years old, she is so young and she has been that way since her polaroids.

Diana may be like that since her polaroids but then that doesn't excuse anything, look at what has been said on tania. Even if she may have lost the height before those have been taken, everyone agrees that she is way too thin...

I noticed from all kinds of model competitions that if a model was appeared to be skinner than the last time she showed, the judges and trainers will always highly PRAISE on her POWERWILL to losing weight. Is this kinda promotion for skinniness?

its great to see pictures of diana's legs in comparison to other models. she is sickly thin.. even unreasonably. i hope she will get better with time. the same comes with siri...

i understand what you mean and you may be right, but imo her legs are even quite skinny for a 16 year old...it just doesn't look healthy (of course, maybe she IS healthy but i think she doesn't LOOK it).

The point is...we don't know how these girls looked before the agencies snatched them up. I think that 99% of the girls are told to lose weight.

Those teenage girls on the runway really change the judgement of my own, when I first saw Vlada, I thought OMG she's the skinniest girl I've ever seen, but now there're more girls far more skinner than her.
Standard has been changed such a lot, more and more ppl are fighting against their own body weight, look at those "losing weight" stuff spread around everywhere, a BMI18 girl maybe consider as skinny 10 or 20 years ago, but now she maybe called as "too full" especially in fashion industry, I can say most of the girls on the runway nowadays is under BMI18. Though we cannot judge one's healthness only from his BMI, but being seriouly underweight will probably be considered as "unhealthy" from the medical point of view.
What we can blame on? It's the fact of trends, I don't think this can be changed by certain rules or regulations, time can change, maybe 10 or 20 years late, fashion industry will have new standards.
