yeah but most people feel the need to have to express themselves. So it's nice to be able to come to this opinionated thread. There's always a newbie that asks a repetitive question.

yeah that's true but starvation also ages the face/skin drastically and puts trauma & stress on the body which can cause a lot of physical problems. A friend of mine suffers from anoxeria and she had a heart attack at the age of 21. She's 23 now but actually looks about 50. It's really sad visiting her in the hospital and hearing how she's still "fat" even though she's skin and bones and wears a wig because her hair fell out from lack of nutrition.

True, but there's always a new girl who's skinnier and sicklier than the last who is the "it" model of the moment. I think most of us are curious if it's truly natural or if they starve or worse...

And...there's always that skinny model (like Vlada, Snejana, Siri, etc.) who is known for being skinny even for a model, and when their weight goes up or down or they look tired...then we discuss more. Which is why this topic is neverending.

You guys might find this editorial fascinating/disturbing/relevant. IMO, it is all three.

I don't really understand the article. Is the artist suggesting that the untold 'story' of the editorials has to do with death?

The artist plays with the taboos of death and perceptions of the human body. It's not a comment on eating disorders as much as it is an exploitation of the human skeleton for the purpose of art.

I think it's gross!
but there are so many editorials I don't like or don't understand... anyway I really don't think it has something to do with anorexia or eating disorders

Starvation can have affect how/when one's body matures. For example, Anorexia in a child or young teen, can disrupt the onset of puberty - meaning menstruation, breast development and hip development will be delayed. Also, the growth spurt that usually occurs during puberty may be skipped, meaning that the person could eventually be shorter than the height that they would've been without the illness.

Surely all the models we are talking about here had their growth spurt during puberty. But they often did not develop breasts and hips.

As many of you know, I like very thin models, but only if their breast and hip development is not delayed. I think that may be a sign of beeing very thin naturally (like V*).

Sorry my comment wasn't actually said with models in mind... I just wanted to make the point that it is possible for starvation to affect the body's maturity.

Also as you mentioned the hip development does not has actually to do with startation only. I mean, one friend of mine told me that he had to practise swimming because he had one hip more developed than other & in fact he didnīt sufer of starvation at all.

But I agree with all you said *Bianca* you deserve a kiss

I was so pleased when I opened the Max Mara thread and saw the model they used (even if it's for a Pre-Fall collection). http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums...05&postcount=1

Look at how HORRIBLY the clothes fit her because she doesn't look like a hangar. I bet if she were walking all the folds in her flesh would totally spoil the beauty of the clothe and everyone would run out of the tent screaming for their sanity.

well, maybe it's just me, but I get the vibe that it's her who makes this stuff at least a tiny bit interesting...that pencilskirt-top thing looks like my granny designed it. Need to ask her whether she is the designer of MaxMara.

i just so happen to catch a rerun of House MD. gotta say it was such a good episode.
the subject matter was about a female 32 yr old CEO who after unconventional diagnoses from House instantly discovered she was bulimic.... i was amazed.
the interesting part is she only did it 3 times a week. i wouldve thought she did it on a hourly to daily basis given the result she had to have a heart transplant which damaged her.

it was a good watch.
