He seems to be a little overweight. I find that hypocritical. He sends out girls like Magdalena, Olga and Vlada as examples for a perfect woman, but then again has not the discipline to keep in shape himself.
No woman with a similiar weight like John Galliano would fit in his clothes. Which leads us back to the sexist idea of "Only women are fat".
I'm sorry if I sound rude but I think your venom is misdirected... John Galliano and designers alike are not judge based on their weight but instead they were judge based on what they do.. and what they do is designing clothes... While models are judge based on their appearance almost all the time... I don't think sexist was the issue here, rather I think designers are becoming more and more irresponsible in their working ethics or lack thereof. I do understand your frustration, it's unfair for us as women to deal with the unattainable image constantly portrayed in the media, but I really don't think it's purely sexist..

Yeah unless they have flat out made comments publicly about the situation. I find Galliano tries to always be different- it's fun. I never placed him in the same category as , let's say Lagerfeld when it comes to talking about weight.
Let him eat his cake- he controls the design and can make it any size he feels like

Models become more and more hangers for clothings.
I can understand that designers want to use thin models that the clothes look good. I have to say I like skinny models too. I like well defined cheekbones and slim legs.
There should be more models like Lara Stone! Or girls like Freja. She's superskinny but I think she is a girl who can eat whatever she wants because she has just this look. And she's not stupid.
Sorry for my word choice.

You both have good points and I completely see what you mean about different cases with model weight and designer weight.
It is frustrating. Still, I do think that Lagerfeld or Marc Jacobs have been, let's say, a bit more consequential.
Speaking of menswear. Look at those models, they are becoming skinnier as well. A designer creates a vision of a perfect look and by hiring certain models, of a perfect body. He/She should be aware of that. And not just impose an unrealistic standard on us, but on himself/herself as well.
Ah, I don't think I can make my point clear, freakin English!

Whee, Natasha <3, I am happy, I have a feeling if we ever get to see her without all this dramatic makeup this season, her face will probably go back to looking more youthful ... like the old days.

Anyone noticed the wonderful Katrin? She's much more a girl of this moment than Olga, Kim or Vlada and she's looking fabulous. It's also for the first time in years that I can stand the sight of Natasha, wow.
I have to say that I noticed a slight change of aesthetics in recent editorials, more often than before the girls look glowing and vital in stead of scrawny and 'couture'. Most obvious one being the b/w Vogue Italia spread of december (with Ymre, Katrin, Toni, etc).

Is it possible that Charlotte di Calypso also looks better? Her face seems a bit fuller.
