It's my sincerest HOPE that these girls are truly healthy, but I know in my heart that they're either mentally ill or addicted to some dreadful chemical. Why is it that her workload has rocketed up in the past year (save this season)? Is it BECAUSE of her weight loss? I see this pattern a lot with other models as well, and it's disgusting.

I don't think it's appropriate to comment on those kind of rumours, or speculation, and the suggestion of mental illness is out of line.

I think we should call a halt to references of 'holocaust' sufferers/survivors, I think it's degrading to everyone.

^^^I so agree with you, I just don't understand why all the people think nowadays they're experts in models and especially eating disorders, though generally they don't even know most famous models nowadays, like Gemma, Daria, Sasha, or anyone from the top 50... It happens to me almost every day, that I hear my teachers, classmates, acquaintances etc. talking about how ugly they think models are, and how unhealthy they all, every of them have eating disorders, but my Physics teacher was the best... I got very very angry when he was talking about 'a girl who died a few months ago', I'm sure he was thinking about Ana, and he was very very unrespectful and very very rude to her memories when he told lies just to shock my classmates who don't know anything about the industry... He said that girl who died was 6' tall and was only 80 (!) lbs... I became very angry with him, because all my classmates believed him, and after that whenever they hear a discussion about models between me and my friend, they look at us like we were aliens or whatever bad to admire and love these 'skeletons'...
And add the new BMI advices, that everyone who normally doesn't care about the industry says are rules...
Hopefully everyone who is not interested in models, just model-abusing or scolding will forget about the industry and find anything else they can say bad things about... I hope everyone will understand someday that these girls are normal people, and not just 'things' and puppets without life...
I didn't mean to be rude to anyone, it's just my opinion...

This is especially important to highlight - there is a real danger in this misinformation and hype surrounding the debate at the moment. It's a debate that needs to happen, but let's get it right, or at the very least - stick to true, scientific facts Mr. Physics teacher!

Im basically agreeing with everyone on this page, and Im tired of it all...

People dont seem to realise that these models who the older women try to be like are only children! They are freakishly tall, and making the judgement that thin people are anorexics is stupid! Obviously a model will be conscious about their weight, but going on about it will not help at all And also assuming that all are anorexic is completely stupid. I read in a magazine how the models take bottles of water around with them because thats the only thing they drink, and they dont eat anything, its ridiculous, what do they them to do? Drink nothing?

The media isnt happy unless they have something to go on about for a very long time.

^ Yeah, Lily is a really stupid one to pick on, I think she is a model who I KNOW is clever enough not to do anything stupid like that.

& I really agree with this fact I have thought of...but the media will be making MORE girls anorexic through the fashion industry by making all this fuss! I mean, apart from us guys, how much would the average person who wasnt totally interested in fashion, she all these models? Hardly at all! But all this fuss means its in the media 24/7. Its just a shame nobody seems to realise these models are all 6' and being skinny comes natural to them! Without causing any offense, but in places like Russia, Eastern Europe, people there have what I call, a REAL diet, not all the junk food we have in UK, so I think they ARE naturally skinny.

I just wish people would realise how tall these models are, and that there is a thing as naturally skinny, take Tanya Dziahileva for example, she may look slim, but she when you look close looks VERY good, not too thin or too big, 100% perfect.

The media is more likely to provoke models to get MORE thin, because their just messing around with their minds - its the type of thing that CAUSES anorexia...

whilether is alot of truth in your statements, ther is truth inthe comments ofyour teacher and classmates. Ana was about 90 pounds and 5.9,but does that matter. both weights would be terrible and health risks. both weights would be deadly. most fashion models are at weights that medically put them at risk for countless issues--some during the present time and others for issues throughout their life.
most tall people are notskinny. they are are not meant to be skinny.ia m not sure where that myth came from---- maybe from all the long and thin models???
secondly, aesthetically many models would be considered ugly by the average person. that is why commercial differ greatly from the runway girls.they don't want to scare off the public. while i disagree that models have to be pretty--as often, that isn't the point. to some, that is their only purpose.

I don't think that kriszti.md is suggesting that either of those weights is acceptable, but it's important to remember that to those that are particularly vulnerable, that weight difference, 10 lbs, IS very important.

I know what you're mean, but I don't think telling not the truth just to shock anyone is not acceptable, so I just don't understand why you say it is...
And I also agree not all models are classical beauties, but who is from us? I don't think this, or their skinnyness is the point to offense them...
And of course, I didn't say anything like every tall people are thin as well...

i was merely defending te epublic's general viewpoint of models. there is some truth to it.
maybe its just me, but i love fashion cuz i love the clothes. i think the point of designers usign plain models is so that people stop looking at them9as opposed to the 80s/90s). models like iekelieine stange are supposed to be less pretty than the average girl. that is arguably why they picked her over someone like bar rafaeli---no distraction. but i really respect your viewpoint as well. it is a sticky topic filled with gray

that is scary. and the thing is, Elise is always one of the models who has a "healthier" "fuller" body on the runway. i think it just goes to show how ridiculously skinny even the "fuller" models are.

as for hana, i dont know why everyone is saying she was so great at VS. i remember seeing the VS show and thinking not only that she was the skinniest one there, but that she was too skinny for the lingerie. and remember, the camera adds 10 pounds
