Yeah, let's take this thread in a more positive direction. It's tempting to look at severely underweight girls (in a kinda sick way... the way I watch CNN), but accentuating the positive is one way to help the industry accept a healthier sense of beauty.

I personally find Sasha P to look very good for her size. Most of the American girls, such as Hilary Rhoda, and almost all of the Brazillians (Cintia, Caroline T) are the perfect size.

At the moment, however, the best body in my book is Agyness.

Bette is one of my favorite models and I don't think she is too skinny, but I would not put her in the group of Doutzen and Anja. Shes waaaay skinnier than them

However, it is refreshing that she has put on weight since she started walking the big runways a year ago when she was frighteningly skinny. you can even see it in her face

<--- this picture really disturbed me when i saw it for the first time

shes still got a ways to go, but i think its an improvement

Wow, definitely a big improvement! I hadn't realized that she was so thin when she first started out.

It's crazy that these models would not last a millisecond in today's industry...

I find Heather Marks to have an ideal body--slender but athletic, albeit not overly athletic.

yeah but you should keep in my that she is a teenager..it's just natural for her to "fill out" I don't think she has or had health problems, though I agree she looks much better now

I was thinking this as well the other day, when looking at pics from the Elie Saab S/S 07 show. Sadly, she doesn't get booked as much as she should, and is really underused.

Where is Cameron Russel these days? I suppose she's furthering her education, as she's always wanted to be the first female president, but I miss her. She probably has one of the best figures of today's models.

You know, I was thinking alot about this today and I think that if they're going to regulate which models should walk the runway, then I think they also need to do something about celebs.

I might be in the minority here, but I can't recall ever really looking at a model and wanting to be as thin as they are. Maybe it's cause I've always liked fashion, so I've been able to see them in a different light, but how they look has never really been something that has made me look at myself in a different way.

When it comes to celebs, I feel a bit different. When it's a model, I think we know that part of the job is to be tall, thin and so on. When it comes to celebrities, some are just as skinny, if not skinnier than alot of the girls walking the runway right now. The difference is, celebs are seen by alot more people and have more of an influence on the general public. So for people to sit there and criticize models and make all these rules seems really unfair when you think about it in that sense. If you're gonna ban a model from from walking in a show for being too skinny, then don't put actors and actresses on the cover of magazines or feature them on those entertainment shows. To see a picture of model, you really do have to look for it. You have to open those pages of Vogue or Allure or flip that channel to Fashion File. Celebs are everywhere and to act as if they are not part of the problem makes me really sympathize for models.

I hope that makes sense....

^That reminds me of an article I read to research for my journalism story (it's about role models for teens), which relates to what you were talking about...

Quote:
I know not everyone follows fashion and may not see these models on a regular basis, but this ultra-thin trend has taken the acting world by storm as well and these actresses are splashed all over our weekly magazines and are seen by millions of impressionable young women. Young girls or indeed a woman looking at these pictures see something they aspire to. This person has an issue other than appearance which must to be dealt with. They are fooled into thinking that if they are thin, they will be more popular, they will be more attractive to the opposite sex and therefore get more boyfriends. This unfortunately is not true. What these women see in the mirror is not what we healthy people see. No one should live their lives watching every mouthful that they consume. Hell, that's no fun.
