i think the white fabric obscuring the edges of her legs, along with the volume created by the metallic dress hide her boniness. looking at pics from her in shows two days ago---she looked like a mess, so how much weight could she have gained?

Oy vey, well maybe she should take some time off to gain weight then! If a model gains weight, she is completely shut out from fashion. Anne V. is a gorgeous girl but can no longer work in high fashion because of her curves. Same with Cintia Dicker. But if a girl is ridiculously, disgustingly thin, she can take all the time in the world. It's sick, really.

^ I dont think thats the case, Lara Stone isnt stick thin, and shes getting the most work this season, and I dont think Cintia Dicker isnt doing too much work because she's curvy...

I remember watching an interview with Angela Lindvall recently, which was taped a few years ago, and she was talking about how when she started to fill out a little more, she got less work. She said that the designers still wanted to use her, but that she didn't fit into the sample sizes. She said that it sucked, but that she wasn't ashamed of getting curves, because that was part of growing up. She was also saying how models fall into 3 categories: The curvy ones, who are still thin to the average person, but look a bit fuller when compared to other models. Then there's the thin girls, who are natuary that skinny and then there's the third one, which is models who make themselves that skinny, because it's unatural to look that way.

^ Yes, and Angela isn't the only model who's gone through that. Models grow up, become women and naturally gain weight. I sadly think that this might be the case for Heather Marks who has an extremely healthy bod, but is no longer on the catwalks while the super skinnies a la Vlada and Snejana still dominate.

And JR1, go to Cintia's thread. She's gained weight since she started and suddenly, she's no longer on the runways. I don't think it's a coincidence. It certainly wasn't for Anne V.

I was thinking the same thing! It looks painful. But I agree, her face definitely does look fuller. And she looks fairly tanned?

I thought the same thing about Heather. She's still is on the catwalks , just not as much as she was back in 2005. I'm proud of her for maintaining a healthy body image and I'm glad that there are designers that still use her, as well as healthy looking models such as Anja Rubik, Caroline Trentini and so on. She's still doing pretty well for herself and is moving into more commercial stuff, as well as high fashion. (For example, she was in the Bergdorf's, Saks and Eluxury catalogues, yet she also has 2 Vogue, Korean and Nippon, editorials out this month, as well as another for Italian Marie Claire)

I think models like the ones mentioned above show that you can be thin and healthy.

I don't think Snejana look bad, and I am saying not because I am a fan. She has obviously gained some weight. And collarbones may stick out even if you are not very skinny

Yeah, when a girl gains weight, it's on to commercial! Anne V. now does Sports Illustrated, Cintia has a L'Oreal contract, Doutzen got a contract with some makeup company (I can't remember the name for some reason). It's great that they can still work in other spheres, but it's sad that they are shut out from high fashion. It's good to see them on the catwalks!

Doutzen was a cover and editorial star of French Vogue just the other month...seems good to me..

And collar bone and shoulder bones sticking out is common, I'm not at all skinny and mine do quite obviously...

^ Maybe, but how many shows was she in? None that I remember.

EDIT: And Doutzen is just one example! There are countless thousands of girls who have lost jobs because they gained some weight. It's nothing new, but these days, it's not just getting "big", it's not looking emaciated that gets a girl shunted from high fashion.

I think Doutzen hasn't lost any work- I mean she is perfect for a certian type of client & always has been, Michael Kors, Calvin Klien- I'm sure she is banking with all the work she is doing.

& Why are people so set on defending Snejana? She looks sickly- end of story, I've said this before but I think people (here) have become de-sensitized to skinny-ness, a normal person's skinny is our "slightly bigger" and a normal person's scary skinny is our average. It is like, impossible for us to be shocked anymore, we are so used to seeing skinny models.

Yes, Snejana is still quite thin, but she still looks better than she did before.

Compare, for instance, her legs a season ago and now...

Not to mention, she still looks considerably better than some of the models' legs out there:
