She's always had cheekbones like that, but now she's lost weight so they're more visible. And I don't think there's anything wrong with the way she looks, I mean she always looks great at events, etc. She doesn't look sickly to me at all.

hotaru, no offense but I really hope smokebreak does not answer these questions. I really don't think it's appropriate or necessary to be comparing and contrasting the skinniness of models' bodies to the point of scrutinizing joint and bone size. it's kind of bizarre to be perfectly honest, and definitely not helpful in terms of avoiding negative influences on people who want to be like models. if you decide that model x is skinnier than model y because of z reason, what's the point? really all you're doing is giving someone out there a reason to want to emulate model x more.

Yeah I don't really want to give a already suffering person more ammunition to carry on with their problem, there are several thread of skinny models for that, infact looking back I wish I could delete all the pictures in my post because I've just given a suffer on the web some "thinspiration". Also I think smokebreak is too professional to scrutinise and list names of her contemporaries and co-models, we already know the skinniest models, and really it'll just be wierd because we're heading towards whose the skinniest 5'9, 5'10, 5'11 girls, or whose waist is 23.5 inches as compared to 23.75 let's just take it as a collective problem.

Actually Hotaru, I apologise, I didn't mean to single you out obviously it's just that this thread in particular is 396 pages of either 1) "Your emaciated model is sick but my emaciated model is fine" or 2) Vlada Vlada Vlada. Everyone knows Vlada is very pretty and it would in no way detract from her beauty if she gained some weight, although she should be applauded for gaining the weight she has.

The sad thing is we already know who the skinniest model is because she tragically died. Three models have died for an industry fad becuase they were too thin, that's why I'd rather see girls like Vlada and Natasha be healhty, live long and do great work as model, I think everyone agrees that a girl looks better with a bit of weight than she does in coffin. I would never wish it upon a girl to die, but that's a consequence of this type of no calories only cigarette lifestyle. If not death then ostheoporosis, dental decay, bone decay or damage, joint problems, kidney problems, heart muscle being eaten by it's own body, that's why I'd rather see them healthy than in the smallest of small couture death.

I agree, it would be unprofessional to frame girls of my same position in my same business in a negative spotlight.
No harm for your curiosity though of course Hotaru, I'm sure you're not the only person who has wondered that. I just know that the thinnest models aren't really discussed. I think it's all really public perspective for that one.
In all honesty no single popular high fashion model stands out to me as thinner than the rest. Everyone's really only a few inches apart from each other at most.

So I see I spawned a bit of a debate that flourished where I left off... These were not my initial intentions, ofcourse, but debates require thought and rumination, so hopefully you're all atleast contemplating some of the negative aspects perpetrated here....

Initially I just posted to a) point out to the many who seem confused, that there are in fact ppl out there who are naturally a hell of a lot skinnier than what is considered'average' and b) to casually interject how ridiculous and filthy I think ****some**** of what goes on here is, namely, the pin-pointing and picking apart.... Someone mentioned earlier that these girls should consider the impact they have on other people... Well sure, that's a nice thought, I admit. But the truth of the matter is that many of these girls are young, demographically and understandably 'naive', and come from holes in the wall, and modeling for them is like a dream come true... Do you really think it's a natural human inclination (on average) to think in such a sitation: "Oh, damn, I'm so skinny, though. I shouldn't be doing this; I'll be setting up negative examples." Come on... Does that seem very realistic???

Another point I'd like to address is that someone suggested that you are engaging in such a prolonged discussion in this thread because you are genuinely concerned for these girls. Are you kidding??? If you are so kindly concerned, why are you name dropping, pin pointing and picking at these people as though they were heartless, inanimate objects... And why are you trying so hard to convince others that so and so is indefinately unhealthy and blah blah blah... How do you know that? YOu dont... So what's the point in spitting out another name into an eternal debate?

I'm rambling and ranting, so I'll shut up... But I'd just like to say that I rant not because I'm an @$$, but because I happen to think that what I have in mind is rather poignant, and that alot of this is a bit of bull, and I'm in fact scolding myself for partaking in any of it at the moment... And lastly, I'd like to say that though I'm not a Buddhist, one of the things that has made most sense to me in my life derives from the Buddhist philosophy, wherein the fact that modesty and humbleness are divine virtues, gossip is utterly pointless and only perpetuates negativity, bad karma and harm, that the actions we take are extremely important, and that often, it is best to shut up and just smile with nobility and wisdom

Oh, by the way, smokebreak, i just looked up your thread and i realized that we met recently at a shoot... Funny cause a) i returned to tfs recently to look up Paul Rowland's photography and b) there were too many girls that day to really keep track, but out of the few that stuck out to me, you were one of them, due to your siouxsie and the banshees shirt lol

I don't think anyone has denied that there are naturally thinner-than-average people in this world.

I think this would obviously be the responsibility of the designers, magazines, and agencies. Not the girls themselves, who are probably under a lot of pressure as it is.

So true! I know anyone I know would definitely do the same these girls do in their situation.

Did anyone see what Jennifer Love Hewitt posted on her blog about her Hawaii candids? I love her.

Blog: About the Hawaii Photos...

This is the last time I will address this subject.
I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image.
A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful.
What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles. I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family. And like all women out there should, I love my body.
To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini -- put it on and stay strong.
Xoxo

Awww, I like that post. And, I think she still has a cute body.

However, is she claiming she's a size 2...
