I think that too. Vlada looks better to me in motion but only because the other girls look thinner in motion than they do in pictures and she looks less thin in comparison to the other models.

amorousluna - thank you for the images you posted on the last page! They all have beautiful healthy-looking bodies! It's just too bad that celebrities these days don't look like that.

The Gemma Ward cover was similar in that one of their featured articles was a weight one and then Gemma's twig arms were poking out of the dress. Teen Vogue wants its readers to be healthy, but it promotes a certain type of frame with its coverstar choices, editorial models, and ads. I remember there being an anorexia related article and it showed a picture of two girls holding hands eating their dessert at a treatment center and the models in the editorials were of equal size to the girls in the treatment center. It was really sad and, like you said, ironic.

yes, this thread for GENERAL discussion regaring model and celebrity weight issues...

it is not to be used to discuss one model or one celebrity...
there has been alot of talk that was deleted that was about one model, and that is not allowed...
the issue of weight has been around for many years and many models and celebs have been affected...
we wanted to provide an arena for you to talk about this, without having it all over the boards...
if anyone has any further questions, please pm a mod or team leader...

I remember receiving that Gemma issue when it first came out and, since this was before I really became interested in fashion, couldn't believe how thin she was. Her arm was, like you described, reminiscent of a twig. You know, if there was a such thing as a bony twig.

Anyway, it's certainly not doing a magazine much good, having skinny models share the same cover as a headline contemplating the eating disorder problems in the fashion industry.

The funny thing is, I became more interested in fashion shortly after I read that Teen Vogue issue with Gemma. I wonder what that says about both the magazine and myself.

Teen Vogue got me interested in fashion [models], as well. Gemma was recurrent in the issues and I loved her style, face, and, tbqh, I liked her body, too. Whenever American Vogue did that supermodels cover, Gemma and Gisele were the only ones I could name. It's safe to say, Teen Vogue does influence with what they print on their pages. &even though they may be sending mixed messages between what they write and the pictures they display, I give them props for their articles because they are very informative and easy to understand, while they often deal with issues that teens need to read.
