Listen to what the man at the model agency says when he watched the video! he calls a girl 'a bit fat' - well see if you agree

thank you for the video, its fascinating for many reasons

that agent seems to be obviously lying in the beginning. to say he cares about the girls health and eating well. you can see pictures of snejana behind him, so they must represent her as well, so for him to say they dont want the emaciated figure it a big of a joke. and that girl was tiny! they really have such warped perspectives in the fashion world

even morgane who is considered one of the curvier models and does VS looked tiny in that video

Be reasonable, that girl resembled nothing of a fashion model. Her figure, the height, it was all working against her. You cannot get all self righteous and proclaim the agent was being hypocritical or what have you, she looked more fit for commercial modeling. I don't think this was her place.

katellee, that girl had the complexion of claudia merikula, not very popular I agree but chubby she's not!.

some random thought on this, I was reading an interview with Behati at fashionforward, she talks about how, as a model, you are naturally concerned about weight since you're not likely to fit in the clothes if you eat too much [or in many cases, like a normal human being i'd say!], i think it's not only responsability of the models, parents and agencies to take away some of the weight pressure but also from the designers and those in the ateliers, they should also be addressed by the goverment or whoever feels responsible, the clothes they present should be created above size four, it seems a little odd models struggle to fit in clothes that are endlessly large [given their height] but for a mass that's more normal in a 1.60 thin person.

I agree ... his word choice may have been poor, but I don't think he really meant she was overweight. What he really meant, and what I myself saw, was that she wasn't really "toned" so that even if she was small, she looked too soft, generic. And that's what he said - her face wasn't anything special especially in light of that. So yes, to call her "chubby" might have been wrong - but just replace that word with "untoned" and I think he's got it right. I do believe his sentiments regarding weight issues and the ban are legit, it seems.

^ Her shoulders and arms make me think of a wishbone - you know, that bone from poultry that you grab one end of while someone grabs the other and you pull until it snaps ... and whoever gets the center part is said to have their wish come true? It's so sad ... she looks like someone could grab her arms in the same manner and she'd snap just as easily

those two agency people in the video are from viva!
from what i heard, cyril said 'elle est un petit peu gross'... of course the girl is by no means fat but one should still not forget that these girls are probably pre-teens and when puberty hits their figures are quite likely to change. if a girl at 12 already has tendency to have a bit of stomach/lovehandles/whatever, what is she going to look like at 17?
i know that one can actually never know what will happen when puberty happens but i find it understandable that the agencies opt for taking on girls which naturally live up to the industry standards of right now.

^Well, I have a friend who has been superskinny her entire life but since she hit puberty she has had to reduce her energy intake to conserve that size 0 size on her 5' 9" frame. The girls going to castings at 12, 13, 14 years old may have the body then but it's pretty much inevitable for them to have to go to some sort extents to retain the body that made them appealing to clients in the first place.

i think its the designers jobs...i mean as a model..you have to fit into sample sizes..if not- u wont work..so as long as sample sizes stay this tiny..the models will and must stay this thin to work...im sure if sample sizes were a size 4..alot of models wont develop EDs...alot of these thin models arent that rich yet...so they will do whatever to get a job...its not their fault...

This may not count for much, but I've seen Olga, and Vlada as well as many other girls at shows this week, and they didn't look unhealthy to me. I'm not saying that they are of average sizes, by any means, but they didn't look malnourished or starved. In response to the pics being posted, they don't lie, but, certain angles can make things look different than they actually are. This even goes with some of the pictures from Style.com that make things look bad or bigger than they actually are, but in person some thing are different.

-I'm not saying this to say that none of these girls aren't forcing themselves into bad habits to maintain their figures, but I hope this may even the playing field just a bit.

Alot of models tend to lose weight as they go through NY, Milan, Paris. Non stop work, for a month can really get you down.

...And to continue with my rant ...I think the media is sending mixed messages....They target celebs and models for being to thin, but turn around and call Tyra a cow (among some members of TFS for that matter) for gaining some weight. Then I read about over the counter diet pills that are being introduced soon. Even some of the bags being given to press during NY Fashion week have diet pills and neg calorie drinks in them. In the end, I don't think this is something that'll ever truly be resolved, as proved in the article posted earlier: Designers blame agents for sending them super skinny girls and agents blame designers for booking them...but I hope this gets some people's minds jogging

You've made some great points, LostInNJ. I find the fact that some bags are filled with diet pills and other things blatantly outrageous. What are we turning into when we resort to giving others pills and what not to hurt their bodies? There's nothing right about that.

I think the sudden popularity of Olga tells us a lot about the model industry..or to put it better: how nothing has changed
