800 calories? I think I could eat only salad for a couple of days without problems but then it's not very good for your health to continue live like, after you add some calories I have a feeling you'll get these kilos back again

^ 1,00 calorie diets are rediculous. My father is 52 years old, 5'3", and no more than 135 pounds. He eats about 3,000-3,500 calories a day to my estimation. He drinks beer, and doesn't shy away from bacon. The secret? Twice daily 1-hour cardio workouts. Don't whine about not having time either - he's a physician and often has to work 10 hour shifts.

My excuse? Laziness

I really hope Kim wasn't the one being discussed in the blind item regarding Karl's "advice" That's just awful...I hope because I think Wilma knows what's better for her girls!

Well then this argument suggests the designers are to blame... not the agencies or anybody else. Because the newspapers have been asking who is to blame for these eating disorders... and it must be the designers - they make the clothes small and in addition start giving "health advice" like that!? Its crazy!

i dont really think figuring out who to blame is going to help anymore. Its really stupid. We can keep arguing and arguing how much someone or something contributes to the problem but its not solving anything

How about trying to find who is actually doing something about it other than talk?

Well yea I agree actions are better than talking - but atleast people are starting to talk about it now - it isnt a taboo subject as it once was. We have to move slowly with these things, they aren't going to solve themseleves over night.

Figuring out who to blame does help to an extent, as it can help find the root of the problem and help solve it. If we keep avoiding the fact of and creation of these trends, one will never find a solution.

My comment was regarding Karl's so called "advice" about healthy eating. If she girls are living by his examples this clearly isn't right...

You know....I always thought Agyness Deyn was relatively healthy for her height but in March Vogue, it stated that she was 5'10 and 110 pounds. I thought she would be more than that. I would assume a model like Jessica Stam to weigh in at 110 pounds at 5'10. If Agyness Deyn is 110 pounds, then girls who look slimmer than her would weigh in the low 100's which is quite honestly, scary for girls their height.

Is that really accurate?

Well, I wouldn't lump all designers with Karl anyway. He's in a league of his own as far as the crazy factor goes.

indeed he is cuckoo, but he designs for one of the most powerful fashion houses in the world, so that's some influence. Im not saying ALL designers are like him, not at all! Its just worrying to know he is like that, and other may be

Hmm...in Vibe Magazine, Chanel Iman reported the same weight and height, 5'10", 110lbs. The two of them look really different, so I don't know. Sometimes, I don't believe the stats give out for some people.

Weight's weird. A girl can look super skinny and be heavier than another girl who looks bigger. I know someone who's 5'0" ans weighs 125-130 pounds. It sounds big for that height, but she wears a medium in girl's clothing and a size 4 petite jean. Someone else I know is 5'8" and weights a little more than 130 but she also wears a size 4-6 and an extra small in the same department.

Sadly, I would say that's probably pretty close. Any something that is ever sadder(is that a word?) is that when models give out stats, they're probably telling a slightly higher weight so people don't really freak out on them, like so they don't sound as underweight as they are. I'd guess most models' weights to be less than that, so I'd say your guess of the low 100's is accurate. It's a sad place that the modeling industry is at right now, if you ask me

I'd have to agree as well.. Now I know weight looks different on different people due to muscle etc, but I'm about 5'9 and 110lbs and would have to lose weight (inches) to model. I would guess agyness is probably 110, but chanel looks like she weighs much less when you really think about it, this is a sad, sad industry

You're right it is. However....it is also an industry that produces because works of art and I have been absolutely fascinated by it. There is a downside to every industry, I suppose.
