^ That photo was taken AFTER Rachel lost the weight. She was bigger in Season 1 of the OC. Rachel used to be "curvier" (had boobs, butt) and was not this skinny. If the interview Mischa gave took place before Season 2, then she wasn't describing the above-pictured body.

Rachel is probably a naturally small girl, but not naturally that thin.

Oh please. Mischa says that Rachel is petite and voluptuous. Clearly that she is thin and dainty with beautiful curves. Sexy. What could possibly be wrong with that?

And then, if she were to say something mean, I suppose that there is that WILD CRAZY notion that a girl COULD choose NOT to walk around soaking up every perceived mean comment like a silly self-obsessed sponge.
not exactly sure when this photo is from - but they look pretty much the same size (not height-wise of course)

Both girls could probably share clothes (but not jeans).

what xmodel citizen says here is 100% true...
it's true no matter if you're a model or not, under these conditions, you will gain or lose weight...

For the record, there is ONE way to lose weight and ONE way to gain weight.

To lose weight, you burn more calories then you consume.

To gain weight, you consume more calories than you burn.

A person who is equally as busy, or even more so, than a model can gain weight if they consume enough calories.
the CFDA, the british fashion council (BFC) and other organizations have ruled out using BMI as a way of determining whether a model is "healthy" or not for 2 reasons:
1. because most models are still young and are genetically small, it's not an accurate way to determine health.
2. the poking and prodding done to determine BMI can be detrimental to a model that may have an eating disorder

the BFC is also working on creating healtier backstage environments (during fashion weeks) where healthy food will be provided and will be a contractual obligation for all on-schedule designers with external auditors doing spot checks to make sure this is enforced...

kimair: i'm referring to a model's life....that is a busy model's life.

*the human anatomy is different for all. the physiology is different for all. and many here points to a picture and analyze the girls without a thought as to what they actually do in the industry. thankfully, smokebreak pointed that out.

Remember when Mischa ws always trying to get attention by talking about how (too) skinny she was and that she was trying to gain weight and blah blah blah? She was never skinnier thn most of the other girls in Hollywood. I never understood that, just like I don't understand why Keira Knightly always go on about being one of the bigger girls in the industry. She looks just like everyone else. But it seems like these girls are trying to get attention buy making people aware of their bodies. Pathetic!

Yes, the BMI is pretty bogus.

from the national association of eating disorders:
Quote:
It is important to remember that every body is different. We all have different genetics. Even if everyone started eating the same things and did the same amount of exercise for a whole year, we would not all look the same at the end of the year. This is because each person’s genetics influence their bone structure, body size, shape, and weight differently.
yes, every body is different but there are certain things that are universal...
your body needs nutrients to function...some people that are younger or have a higher metabolism may not need as much...
you will lose weight if you burn more calories than you take in, and you will gain weight if you are taking in more calories than you burn...
you won't lose/gain the same amount as someone else who is the same age/height/weight as you, but you will lose or gain weight...

i understand smokebreak's point of view, a model's life is a busy one if she is one of the tops in the field...
but if she is not eating enough (as smokebreak said), then she isn't going to gain weight because you need to eat enough nutrients to sustain your body...
in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if models lose weight during fashion weeks...
that coupled with the lack of sleep, etc. is not going to help models look and feel healthy...

i think mischa and keira look thinner than they are because they are flat chested. both have decent sized hips/thighs. i have met rachel in person. she is a size 0/2. adorable---not that skinny but really short/small. mischa probably is the same size if not bigger.

Yes, how many calories you will burn varies by age, height, current weight, etc. but if you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight. That does not vary based on anything, it's a simple fact.

my point exactly, xmodel_citizen, i don't understand why she's always going o about being too skinny. She never was and never will be. She looks totally normal to me, if not a bit on the heavier side. But good tht she has a healthy body image.

She definitely does look a bit on a heavier side these days. Maybe she's going on about being too skinny to give herself a reason to gain weight, and justify it.

I think her legs were always heavier in proportion to her body though

Mischa has always had awkwardly large legs like Katie Holmes.
