Well, people react differently when they are starved. Some gets crazily amount of energy when they're hungry, I know that from myself, and some get incredible and immediately tired. But I do believe that eventually the 'energy boost' will end and the body will discover that it needs hell of a lot nutrition and then really shut down on energy in order to survive, basicly.

Younger Models

NOTE TO MODERATORS: i hope you won't delete this. please! trying to make a point, here.

When we were young, we don't like eating dinner food, at least most of us don't. We rather eat and drink = snacks : doritos, nachos, Cheese-it, potato chips - junk food. soda. cakes. cookies. candies. fast food.

but ...

if they were deprived of such "good" food [above], i know if it was me, i consider it a punishment and adults making me starve. i think this is universal to all teens and older teens alike.

* i say this because this is one of many complaints my agent friends constantly bitch about of their young models. honestly, i've seen this first hand myself.

Seriously. Chemistry that may not be discussed, not even mentioned here.
And seriously, obviously there ARE many models who do not have EDs, who do a little harmless diet occasionally or who are just genetically blessed (or cursed, evolution-wise). But there probably also are many models who are messed up. You can't just generalize that. This discussion is so weird.

but...

there have been no-name models, for instance, my agent friends who'd tell me there's a model who's anorexic or have eating disorders and don't want to represent because she's a liability and now she's with this-so-and-so agency.
  • when i asked my friend what did he mean she's a liability to the company, he make a point: tardiness, inability to take directions, low energy, bad teeth and nails ...
So i see more Top models with issues of food rather than the extremes of eating disorders.
Can you tell me exactly what "eat[ing] like a man" means

Yes. Endorphins can only cover up so long. Nothing comes out of nothing. At some point everything and -one has to realize they fall under the law of conversation of energy. At first you are energetic and fidgety but that wears off and then you're just dull (the latter can be suspected from some models' pictures ... but those are shots in the dark and thus inappropiate).

the bolded part reads like a different spelling of "assumption". It's brilliant in its brazenness.

Right. Just like the anorectic who can't possibly be at the gym for hours each day

Eating disorders push people to go past the normal limits.

(And BTW, I'm not arguing whether or not those in that thread have an eating disorder or not; rather, what I'm saying is that it is very possible to run miles or be at the gym, or whatever - basically things more strenuous than walking a runway and running backstage- while having no energy)
