Also, regardless of whether or not a reader is paying attention solely to the clothes featured in an editorial, one cannot help but store the image of how the clothes are supposed to look, and what body type is considered the most attractive in order to wear the clothing ideally.
That's very true as well. Every editorial has a concept, who and what lifestyle the clothes were made for, and usually that's a very thin girl.

I'm exhausted. I misread your post, sorry. However, my point that it's impossible to separate the model and the clothing remains the same.

The model in my avatar doesn't have a 21 inch waist, 29 inch bust, or anything as extreme as that. So, no, it's not contradictory.

I don't even have a model in my avatar, but Angelina Jolie. Who I am a fan of due to her acting talent and beauty. So I'm not being a hypocrite at all.

I don't have any of the models that are mentioned in here for being overly thinned in my avatar... So, no, not really contradictory. There's thin, and then there is super duper and unhealthy looking thin.

People who don't know the names of these models don't compare Vlada to Anja to Iman to Natasha they just see thin the people don't say I'm going to buy the dress I saw on Vlada but I want it size Daria

I'm not trying to pick at every word but I find it interesting how a lot of people, when they're fans of actors they say it's because of their talent and beauty. And if you think about it, it sounds silly. Hey! I like her cos she's pretty. But that's usually how model fans are, aren't they? Most of them, anyway.

People put in "beautiful" actors for films and shows these days even if their acting is horrendous (not saying angelina's is, she's one of the few!) but because they're society's definition of gorgeous, they'll sell the movie. Jessica Alba? Hot body! Beautiful! Ka-ching in the box office. It's no different in the modeling realm - years ago the norm changed, beauty = thinness, skinny = beautiful. Agencies want their girls to be thinner because not only is it beautiful, the clothes hang better, make them more sellable, bringing more money to the agencies and designers. It's an industry of extreme *beauty, average is just not accepted.

^^ I'm pretty sure that if you show a person a picture of Chanel Iman's thighs and next to it a picture of Coco Rocha's thighs, anyone would be able to tell the difference. As a matter of fact... In the Gap ad where Chanel looks super thin? There's another model wearing shorts. I forget which right now, but there is another and out of the two, Chanel was the one who stood out to the women I overheard talking about it. The other model was healthy looking.

I wish I could remember if it was Coco wearing the shorts or one of the blonde models. Anyway, that's not even the point. The point is that people can tell the difference between being thin and being ill/too thin.

Jessica Alba's acting ability sucks so I would never put her in my av (I don't find her attractive either, but even if I did I wouldn't be a fan just for that), and I don't have Angelina in my av just because she's beautiful. But I see your point

And I think that model fans myself included don't just like a model for their beauty, but their talent as a model. Creative posing, a good walk, a way of "pulling off" any look no matter how ridiculous/boring/ugly, etc.
