Yes, I consider her considerately large weight gain, possibly, unhealthy. Maybe if she went up one or two sizes thats fine.. but that wasn't the case.. This isn't saying if your HER "average" figure now your 'unhealthy' let me get this straight.. it's the fact that she's always - even since her childhood - been naturally thin, that I would consider this weight FOR GEMMA'S STANDARDS slightly unhealthy.

I really have no problem with her embracing a larger figure. I don't really want to continue talking about Gemma though its clear that after being such a successful model for many years she wants a break its only natural, and Heath's death etc..

^I understand what you're getting at. It's very possible that her current weight is unhealthy, but think about this: she's also really tall, about 5'11, I'd say. Is it more healthy to have an average weight or her weight when she was still modeling (which clearly is underweight)? For someone who has had to "cut back" on her adolescent development in a sense, is it more healthy to keep her prepubescent-skinny body or to gain so that she physically represents her age?

Of course I have no personal knowledge of her health, but I just think that this isn't unhealthy judging from pictures. Many of the once super skinny girls from a few years ago (her, Lily D, etc) are now filling up more and I think it's just natural considering they're not teens anymore.

Unhealthy or unattractive to you? The word "unhealthy" is thrown around much too often, and is often code for something else

Haha my comments where only in reference to posters who said "gemma now looks healthy" and I added that her big weight gain, in my opinion, isn't that healthy because its so far from the shape she's been her whole life, and it would require slacking off in exercise and diets. But as j'adore_couture said it might be because she has matured, and no longer has the same metabolism, and simply maintaining that figure is physically too hard for her, which is a very valid point.

No there is no way she looks unattractive I think she looks just as beautiful now as she did before.

Oh Anna.. She has been getting thinner and thinner every time I see her . It now pains me to see pictures of here (even though she's one of my favorites - and it's a similar case with Anja and Freja)

I don't get why succesful models get thinner and thinner?!
I mean when they have their weight and they're succesfull with that, why do the loose more weight? I mean it's different with Newcomers, but why get established models also thinner and thinner?
I don't understand that

^ To compete. In case another thinner model shows up on the scene, they can beat them to it.

To compete, yes, and also probably because it gets people talking. OR maybe they are actually really sick (anorexia nervosa, stress, flu, etc...who knows) and they can't control whether or not they are losing weight.

Model Alina Isachenko at Loewe SS 2010, looking rather spindly-legged:

^ wow. :\

I don't understand why you would want someone who looks like that to model your clothes. Whether she is naturally that thin or not, it doesn't look good. Just like how you wouldn't have an overweight person modeling your clothes, because it doesn't look good either. When a model is that thin I don't even look at the clothes. All I see is "oh my god she is skeletal".

why it annoys me when gemma is mentioned here:
people keep saying shes gained weight and shes fat she looks horrible or something along those lines. Of course shes going to gain weight - shes no longer a WORKING model, to me she will always be a supermodel so i concentrate and applaude her on the period in which she was working. From what ive read she wont be modelling anytime soon or has even decided to stop altogether. So why are people still bashing her about the constrast between her now and her what? 3-4 years ago? No matter if your naturally thin or not working in the industry is going to put u at a weight thats thinner than even normal for you- whether it be the stress or, sadly unhealthy ways . So of course everyone is going to keep on watching her weight since she seems to want to be an actress, but most of these comments are those comparing her to when she was aworking model ( which she is nomore) . Sure talk about her weight if u want but see her as a normal growing girl who no longer wishes to be stick thin . In 10 years when she has kids are people going to still be like " omg shes fat" ?
