Nicole Richie and MY-WARDROBE.COM last night hosted a dinner to launch her much celebrated House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate autumn/winter 2010- 11 collections.

"I'm a busy working mother," she told us, "I'm all for what's comfortable but I don't think people today make enough effort with what they wear. At the same time I don't want to have to get out of bed early to decide what to put on. My jackets are my favourite part of my collection because you can just throw one on over jeans and a vest and it looks like you've made an effort."

Richie explained her how her designer influences stem from a wide range of areas.

"I was walking around the other day and I saw this woman wearing this great hat and I thought actually that'd make a really good bag so we turned it upside down and now it's a great looking bag," Richie said. "Handbags and sunglasses are the area I really hope to expand on. I'm a real handbag girl. I couldn't cope without my Balenciaga- it comes everywhere with me."

Richie is now mother of two to two-year-old Harlow and nine-month-old Sparrow, whose name came from Captain Jack Sparrow. ("I'm a big fan," said Richie) The designer revealed that she felt more ready for child birth second time round.

"When I had Sparrow I felt as if I knew what I was doing more," she said. "I knew the signs and when it started happening I tied my hair into a nice side plait, put on my bronzer and off I went. I have found the increase in bust size difficult though. It's why I dyed my hair brunette. I was blonde with this big chest and I thought 'no this is not my look.'"
