RIP Bill Cunningham
Truly sad news I'll be sad not noticing him front row after all these years capturing the work of designers and street style.

Quote:
Bill Cunningham, the street*style photographer whose photo essays for The New York Times memorialized trends ranging from fanny packs to Birkin bags, gingham shirts and fluorescent biker shorts, died in New York on Saturday. He was 87.

He had been hospitalized recently after having a stroke. His death was confirmed by The New York Times.

In his nearly 40 years working for The Times, Mr. Cunningham operated both as a dedicated chronicler of fashion and as an unlikely cultural anthropologist, one who used the changing dress habits of the people he photographed to chart the broader shift away from formality and toward something more diffuse and individualistic.

My heart feel to the floor. One of the most singular, passionate and lovable figures in the industry. I smiled whenever I spotted that little blue coat in the shows, he was so smooth and almost invisible but at the same time so instantly recognizable. His legacy will live on and he'll be deeply missed.

Gonna watch his documentary again.

It breaks my heart. He has great insight and good perspective on all sort of things. Truly in awe of his work and knowledge for a long time, I will always remember him and his vision. My thoughts are with his friends and family.

^^ Loved it! Thanks for posting that. What a sweet, sweet person. It's beautiful to see someone finding the work they truly love, and doing it in such an ethical way. He did what he came here to do.
