I noticed that too!

Garance is better at playing the game I think than the Sartorialist. I thought it was fairly common knowledge by now that he isn't the easiest person to deal with, even on a professional level (to put it diplomatically).

scott is coming to barcelona next week. if Garance comes too, i'll go.
would it be too rude to come up to "his" presentation to get to talk to garance? as in "just" garance?

For what it's worth, The Sartorialist was an incredibly inspirational blog when I first read it (Jan 2006), and in a way it still is- I bought his book for just that purpose. But Garance takes more beautiful photographs IMO, and I love her illustrations- and also the fact that she actually replies to comments on her blog on almost every entry (it seems). Nice to see there's actually some connection with her readers there...

About the circumstances in which their relationship began....can't comment. We dpn't know what went down, and I'm quite content to enjoy what I can of their work without thinking of it. And plenty of famous creative people have behaved awfully to friends or partners in the past- we only judge their work, not them.

But I do bulls**t on Scott being able to tell when a person is 'trying too hard'- what was with that photograph of Olivia P, useless reality-tv celeb, styled in head-to-toe Topshop in London this past Fashion Week?
Maybe he can mostly tell, and I can respect his choice of subject even if I don't agree that there's anything amazing, but this was just egregious. The 'celebrity fashion' rubbish is the kind of thing I used to avoid by looking to Scott, Garance, the Facehunter and before them FRUiTS and other streetstyle sections in mags for inspiration. It's just sad that it's infiltrated this far- most of the comments on that post were about how she looked 'perfect'. Blah. I do appreciate the space he gives to menswear though- I'm a girl who ended up picking up a fair few nice visual cues from there.

I think if I get too disgusted with all of it, I'll just go back to my streetstyle mags- they were what I loved most after all, and it's always nice to have images on paper (very different from just a digital one). Sorry I ranted this far...or blathered, really.

Yesterday I attended Scott Schuman's (The Sartorialist) book presentation at Café y Té in Las Rozas Village. The place was very pleasant, although it was very difficult to get there. The presentation was held by Carmen March, designer (the most sincere and spontaneous of all of them), Carla Royo-Villanova (with a very risky new look), Fiona Ferrer (from Elite Model Look), Michael Black (Value Retail creative director), Marisa Santamaría (Communication and press director in the IED), and of course, Scott Schuman, who wanted the conference to turn into a lively discussion panel and added comments whenever he could. There was a moment where the presenters started to talk to each other animatedly (because at first they only gave their speech and that was all), and Scott happily said: "That's what I was waiting for! Fight!"

Scott seemed to be a very nice person, very elegant, and extra self-confident, which is great. He was very spontaneous and cheerful. When they put the little microphone on him, he did the Robot, hahah.

Garance Doré arrived later and stealthily took a seat. However, Scott kept mentioning her all the time. Scott says that Garance dresses much more elegant and pretty than the girls she takes photos of. That's real love.
i think they are kind of a charming couple..

I can't lie, I like them both. I especially loved his blog in the beginning because it was very NY, granted nowadays it's very Soho NY but I still find some inspiration there.

Garance I LOVE! Her photos & illustrations are beautiful and I love the way her personality shines thru in her posts.

It is extremely weird seeing pics of them together since he is so wee.

I disagree with the Sart, I mean she's photographed people like Clemence Posey + a million other young beautiful ingenues. Realistically speaking, NO.

Is it a sign of my increasing cynicism and snarkiness? My reactionary nature?

I now find Garance's posts twee and saccharine - in fact highly annoying and contrived. The overtly sisterfriend!! vibe with the profusion of exclaimation marks and faux confessionals.

I don't even bother going to the Sartorialist website these days because its so damn boring! I think other blogs, such as Jak and Jill does a far better job than these two.

I agree with you guys saying their blogs have become boring, but that's what's exciting, it's time for someone new, can't be Garance & the Sartorialist forever. Not saying they're completely over (with all their ties in fashion) but for someone looking for something new and fresh they are, and them being a couple and posting about it constantly and him being a douche in general sure helps.
