He's gross, but once you get used to it, he's kind of ok.
I'd kill to have his job so not matter how vulgar he is to me, i kind of admire him.
just curious.. but what about him do you find vulgar?
when i used to subscribe to vogue i would read his section--forget what it was called--but I can't say I loved or hated it... I'm sort of ambivalent about him...

He went Brown University for French on a Scholarship. He planned on being a French teacher. But he read Vouge in his teens and met kids who were going to RISD.
did anyone see the special on him that aired new year's on the style network?
here's a blurb about it (it aired monday at 10:30pm EST)
Quote:
Style Specials: Stylemaker: Andre Leon Talley Come inside fashion insider Andre Leon Talley's incredible world and meet the designers who make fashion what it is today.

I actually saw the the stylemaker special, and while I don't like some of the designers he loves alot, he has great style and if I could pull off that Baleciaga cape and afford it I would wear it all the time. He should get his own show instead of Isaac Mizrahi.
Hes very flamboyant, but i respect him because it was hard to get to the point he is at, being a double minority, gay and Black. I love him, i feel like his clothing is at times boisterous, but LOL...thats Andre. Anyhoo, he isnt very attractive, anyone know if he is married? ETC?
^ I couldn't agree more. I feel as though his clothes match his personality. He IS over the top and flamboyant, I wouldn't wear what he wears but I'm glad he does. Its part of his whole persona. He is ALT he's in that special category with other like minds like Isabella Blow wherein he can wear whatever he wants because his clothes represent him in a way that defies the trends.
I also agree that he has worked incredibly hard to attain his position and is a man with an incredible talent who really strives to give back. He always uses his column to spotlight minority designers, actresses, actors, stylists, etc. Names that you wouldn't hear about in Vogue otherwise and from all accounts he's a very nice giving person esp. with regards to fostering new talent. I dunno I just really like him.

André Calls It on the Carpet Leon Talley named new voice of Oscar fashion
Tuesday, January 30, 2007
(LOS ANGELES) For once, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is getting Oscar fashion right. How many ill-prepared supermodels, television talking heads, and even sportscasters have described fashion on the network pre-shows over the years, only to cause the millions who watch to yawn—with embarrassment? This year, on February 25 at the Kodak Theater, no less a fashion personage than Vogue’s editor-at-large André Leon Tally will be what Academy Awards producer Laura Ziskin is calling “the voice of the Oscars.” Talley will narrate the pre-show fashion coverage and be intricately involved with the event throughout the evening.
that will be really interesting to see..
i wonder if he will identify the celebs' outfits rather than ask them "who they are wearing"
i'm also wondering if he will be outspoken about his opinions...
watching him could be entertaining
