I met him in November (pics with him too) and he is very unique. He doesn't speak with a British accent at all (not to me anyway). And he's very smart about fashion. You can tell he's researched a lot about fashion and style and the art of fashion. He was well spoken and funny.

The Bagger has only himself to blame for falling so hard for “Dreamgirls,” but when he is in the mood to spread it around, he always remembers that he was seated just in front of Andre Leon Talley, an editor at large for Vogue, at the premiere. Mr. Leon Talley’s vocal, not to say inescapable, support of the show at its signature moment was contagious. He has since, btw, seen the film seven times.
Mr. Leon Talley, who has expertise in outsize fabulousness — and is a living, breathing example of it himself — is fresh off hosting a lunch about Oscar fashion and has been tapped as a fashion commentator for the warm-up show on Osacar night. The Bagger briefly joined him and “Dreamgirls” star Jennifer Hudson when they held a a fashion summit at Michael’s restaurant in New York, and let’s just say that those two can talk. There’s also word that Ms. Hudson, who has become something of a muse for Mr. Leon Talley, will be appearing soon in a Vogue near you.

Anyway, about the carpet – everyone is running through tech preparations right now. The Academy is doing sound checks and the best…the BEST was Andre Leon Talley.
Like.
Oh.My.God.
Never took his shades off. Dressed in a designer toque and scarf, a huge coat with electric blue lining, basketball shorts – yes, basketball shorts!!! - sports socks pulled up to his knees, and trainers! I nearly lost my ****. Would Anna Wintour approve???
He was sitting on his very own director’s chair and get this – he had his initials ALT embroidered in the back of the seat.
many media sources have it that ALT insisted that Jennifer Hudson should wear the tiny space jacket which results in a disaster (at least viewed by many including myself). JH told Matt Lauer that she regretted wearing that jacket. (which was inappropriate IMHO considering what ALT did for her...including putting her on a cover).
What do you guys think?
...Andre truly has no style. That outfit was a mess, that dress had POCKETS (trend gone so-wrong) that dumb silver snake cropped jacket and the dinky Claires-esque jewelry.
I can see all the trends Andre took from, but he worked them so immaturely. I truly believe he has no style. Also, he gushed over Kirsten Dunst's most heinous "Haute Couture Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld" dress and Jada Pinkett's stiff Herrera. He is so clueless.

it's OT but it hurts me when I saw Jada in that dress. She survived?
I don't see any problems on the pockets. What bothers me is her posture. The outfit will look ten times better with a posture as good as, say, Nicole Kidman. Stand STILL, and don't leave you hands in pockets!
The pockets didnt work because she had her hands in them, like she's strolling on the beach, not on the Oscar red carpet. Also, when she had her hands in them, it made her look bigger. She was doing a dumb "look how sultry I can be" pose by leaning forward and to the side, when she should've been a column of elegance like Nicole. A different dress would've been better, and maybe next time, she shouldn't return Andre's call.

"A column of elegance"
But Andre really did make a huge mistake putting Jennifer in the jacket. He doesn't have enough taste to be a stylist. Speaking of which, what does he do exactly at Vogue? I don't buy Vogue, but the few times I've flipped through it I just see one little page-long column by him. Is that seriously it?
^ I can see Andre's thought process, he thinks it's cool b/c he's Andre Leon Talley to wear Baby Phat, Phat Farm, Sean John, et al. When in reality, he is not cool and really insane.
Dont forget Marc. Andre and Anna always gush over Marc/Vuitton, Prada and Chanel every single season.
He truly has no style and is monumentally pretentious/self concious. I dont know how he got his job. At least he kind of dropped that British accent for a stuffy WASP accent. Im sure he sits at home, teetering atop a gilt stool in front of his ornate vanity repeating "how now brown cow" over and over again.
