I love the Ellen Von Unwerth color reversals as well!

Sex is good, she's in touch with herself and I love the photos!

Thank you so much, you now have karma from me, the first ever; it's a new film I never knew was out there, though I've heard it discussed in passing and since I've heard it here today, I'll likely be viewing it for the winter of 2007!

Thank You!

She's also mentioned in the No Bra song Munchausen, better known as Karl Heinz Munchausen if you've heard it!

Yeah! A lot of people think her nude shots of Adriana are trashy, but I love 'em.

imo she is very important female protographer as she's telling us a story about the woman who comes straight from male fantasy (not just newtons but I'd say every mens fantasy). She brings out the woman with her sexuality, power, even perversion associated with male fantasy only. Very provocative, shocking maybe, disturbing, erotic...that kind of sexuality, femininity, voyeurism and reducing the real woman to sex object... all that is not just a male point of view. Not any longer.
Newton loved the Story of O by
Dominique Aury. I'd put von Unwerth next to Aury, its just the same "fight" with female sexuality myth. imo they both create new erotic worlds, especially in our postmodern reality where power, "violence" and "heterogeneity" are strongly connected with sexuality, both male and female sexuality.
oh and newtons casts, neck braces or surgical corsets... von Unwerth seems to like that too

Ellen's the BEST

I bought SNAPS when it first came out and have adored Ellen's work ever since. I could not add the Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan pix to my collection on principle but I think she's the most dazzling artist in the last 15 years. great 'thread. thanks...

I'm not really a fan of her work, hah, it's not my style. But Ilike how she has a style... some photographers are very boring.
