^ I didn't say she couldn't do it, because the bottom line is we can't say whether she would be a good replacement or not.

she was EIC for '20 ans' for a few years
so she does have the experience of being more than a fashion director
but taking on PV would be a whole nother animal...

this is why I love Em, she could be all up high because of her position but she always seems willing to talk to bloggers, photographers, etc...

and that's basically why carine was fired. i think that, as much as i love emmanuelle, she should remain a fashion director, just as carine should never have been an EIC... one forgets that besides eds, there's also written content in magazines, and one of the drawbacks of carine was that under her reign the written content of VP wasn't very good. i don't think that emmanuelle would resolve this problem with poor written content for VP

^but alot of editors are consultants for brands, the Fashion Director for UK Vogue Lucinda Chambers is a consultant for Marni, and Katie Grand is Consultant to Louis Vuitton, Giles, Ungaro, ect, so i think thats purely a rumor....

But i think Emmanuelle would be perfect for the post of Editor in Chief, i think she would follow the same DNA Carine created, which i think has worked so well for Vogue Paris, since Carine & Co started in 2001 circulation was up 45% so that proves that there was nothing wrong with what they were doing.....

^i'm not sure the conversation should go that road ...

but basically when you fire someone, you want to hire someone new ... not someone who'll be doing the same thing (eventhough, i doubt both would do the same. they were a great combo, but don't have the same aesthetic in the roots ...)

i wonder why we haven't heard E.ALT, yet, btw.

idk exactly when the circulation figures raised, but the reader was different when CR took over, and around 2005-2006 ... The magazine then changed ...

I'd love if she got the job, but I don't think she will.

I was about to post the same thing regarding other Conde Nast editor's part-time consults. I think both Olivier Lalanne and E Alt would be a good choice as EIC, it'd be painful to see someone new and set up a complete new team at VP (e.g. W under Stefano Tonchi). Both would make a good transition and Carine's current VP readers would stay.

I mean, let's face it, fitting into CR's shoe is like that of Hedi Slimane's at Dior Homme or Tom Ford's Gucci. Furthermore, I honestly don't wanna see Virginie Mouzat (of Le Figaro) to get the role.

Also, what's that thing about Roitfeld's or Alt's writing content standard? Com'on, Conde Nast should know and expect that, as they know perfectly well about their *stylist* background, and probably hire 'em for that, NOT their writing skill, so don't complain now. Don't forget Anna Wintour dropped out at 16 and did styling also as editor at Bazaar and New York. Plus, many know that French somehow sadly see fashion superficial and skin deep, therefore, I guess they don't buy VP for the sake of literature or deep article. As for those who like fashion and buy VP, I guess they might be as "visual-oriented" as many others.
